There won't be all that much on Oahu that's really near Aulani. It's on the far Leeward side of the island and is about a 1/2 hour (by car) from Pearl City and over an hour away from Honolulu. There is another resort within walking distance; there are probably some restaurants there. But in general, eating out is pretty spendy on Oahu unless you're looking at food trucks, cheesy chain places or can find some neighbourhood place the locals eat.

FWIW, although I hope you have a really great time, I would personally never stay at Aulani because I think the location is so sucky. (I'm a Waikiki Beach girl all the way!) :wave2:

Monkeypod across the street from Aulani is good and they have happy hour.

We loved Aulani and had a blast.

For Aniheim, are you looking within Disney or ourtside? We most mostly ate in the Parks but we did like Mimi's .

Just to clarify, you mean Anaheim, California, right? I haven't gone to those specific locations, but there is Ruth's Chris as well as a Morton's Steakhouse on Harbor.

They should have some sort of happy hour special, but only in the bar area or maybe a patio. For Ruth's Chris each location has its own happy hour times.

My favorite at Ruth's Chris is the steak sandwich. It's maybe 5 oz of filet mignon pieces for $8. I had a temporary job and I'd drive all the way to one that had them as $6 specials. That was really good eating for about what I'd pay for a dinner at Denny's.

I'm staying within walking distance to Disneyland!

Also you guys are the best with your suggestions thank you so much for your help :)

Another vote for Monkeypod, don't miss it. I was sorry we waited until our last day to try it, we would have gone more than once if we knew how good it was.

Also, we had the best pancakes ever at Ama Ama one morning. They were delicious. Aulani was amazing, I want to go back just for the pancakes.

How much did you pay for those pancakes lol my next question is where did you guys have breakfast at.

Ama Ama is a must do too

I really liked the Downtown Disney restaurants at Disneyland. They are right outside the parks. Easy to eat at one and go back in. I remember Mexican and New Orleans style cuisine.

There are plenty of food choices at Downtown Disney and the resort hotels. Many are reasonably priced. There's not too much within walking distance of the parks outside the gates that is worthwhile, except for Mimi's Cafe. Downtown Disney has both quick service and sit down options.

I agree with the poster who said go to Ama Ama for breakfast. We had 2 breakfast there and one lunch. I ended up cancelling our dinner reservation. I can't remember exactly why but it was either since we had something else planned or we were too tired.

As an alternative to Ama Ama , ther is also a Roy's at the golf course across the street but we never ended up there. We only ate at Makahiki for the Character Breakfast. Most of the time we ate at Uli Cafe but since we were there a week the menu started getting repetitive soon.

Across the street where Monkeypod is there are a few smaller places ( ie pizza Place, BBQ, coffee place with breakfast, taco)...can't remember what else. The Country Market store also serves some hot dishes to take out. My DH has a gluten allergy some for us it was easier to mostly eat at the resort . Disney is good with that.

We love Roy's. Ate at every island that had one as well as the one here in Baltimore. Also I really liked Dukes Canoe Club in Waikiki. Hula pie. Yum!

As others have said, there are a lot of places at Downtown Disney in Anaheim to eat. If you're more on a budget you can try the take outs for Tortilla Joes and Napolini. Disneyland Hotel has Tangaroa Terrace and Trader Sams that you might want to try, and there is Whitewater Snacks at the Grand Californian that is pretty reasonable. I stayed at the Clarion Hotel during D23 Expo, and we walked down to a bar & grill called Clancy's Clubhouse - American fare. It was pretty good, and I'd go again. There is also a Gardenwalk with different places to eat like California Pizza Kitchen, Bubba Gump, etc., and going down Harbor near the Tropicana is Pizza Press that gets a lot of good reviews. Of course, there is Mimis, and Panera is opening soon (not sure when you're going to be there.)

We love Steakhouse 55 at the Disneyland Hotel and Tortilla Jo' s and Ralph Brennan' s Jazz Kitchen at Downtown Disney. Napa Rose at the Grand Californian is probably out of your price range , but do try the Hearthstone Lounge off the GCH lobby.

There is a thread on the DVC boards about dining on Oahu that is wonderful. We stayed at Aulani for 12 days last December and found plenty of food options. IMHO the location is fabulous and there is plenty in the area. We had a car so getting to Roy's and other areas was easy but there options within walking distance beyond the two resort restaurants. Monkeypod was our favorite but there is also a Mexican restaurant and pizza place across the street. The other resorts have places also.

Enjoy your stay! Aulani is amazing.

Is Mimi's the one that's in the parking lot of the Fairfield? Or is that one Millie's? (I liked Millie's).
