My husband and I will be in Scottsdale starting next Sunday for a week. :thumbsup2 He is going to school and I get to lounge by the pool. I know its a tough life. ;)

We are looking for some great restaurants. Preferably some mom and pop type places. You know the kind, not chains, something born and bred in that area. We love all kinds of food, Mexican, American, Italian, did I mention mexican? LOL List them all, we aren't picky.

Doesn't have to be budget, just didn't know where to post this.

We are staying at the Hyatt Regency in Scottsdale to give you an idea of where we will be.

TIA!!!

Hey! That's like 5 minutes from my house!

We like Macayo's which is a local chain but good Mexican (and Margaritas) and not too expensive! http://www.macayo.com/ There is one on Scottsdale Rd, a little North of Shea.

Oregano's is awesome for Italian. It is also a local chain. This place always has a long wait- so go during the week for somewhat shorter wait times. It is on the SE corner of Scottsdale and Shea. If the wait is crazy, there is an NYPD pizza on the same corner which isn't as good, but a lot faster! ;)

If you are willing to drive about 15 minutes, TeePee's is really good Mexican as well and very mom and popish. http://www.teepeemexicanfood.com/ George W Bush ate here while he was President. I want to say Clinton did too, but I could be wrong about that!

We have only lived on this side of town about a year, so I'll think some more. There are a lot of more upscale places that we haven't got to try yet. Oh! That reminds me, I haven't been there yet, but there is Zinc Bistro which was rated the best French Onion Soup in the US by the Travel Channel. I saw the chef at the Food and Wine Fest last year. Yes, I was struck by the irony that we were at an International Food and Wine Festival and saw the guy whose restaurant is less than a mile from our house! :rotfl:

Okay- thought of another one! Roaring Fork is more upscale but have good American type food. We like to sit in the Bar area and get a Big A** Burger. This is right by the mall (Scottsdale Fashion Square) so about 10 minutes or less south of your hotel. When I went to the website, I see there are also a few in TX. I thought it was more local than that.

If you are willing to drive out to Mesa, go to Rosa's (www.rosasgrill.com). Best Mexican food I've ever had. Going there is one of the things I miss most about not living in AZ anymore.

The Rustler's Roost in the Pointe Resort is a lot of fun. I don't remember a time when I went there and didn't enjoy it (although it's been 10+ years). www.rustlersrooste.com
