Hi
I wanted to share a great story with you.
I had a trip planned to the World in late August to celebrate my 40th b-day. Things took a turn on April 14th when I received a phone call from the adoption agency that I went through to do a search for my birth mother in 1999. (at that time she did not want to meet me). They regreted to inform me that my birth mother had passed away in a car accident 2 years ago, but that my 3 sisters had just found out about me and wanted to meet me. I had learned about them in 1999. They all grew up together with our mother.
I was very excited and extemely nervous! I had to go through a judge to open the files for me. The wait just about killed me. Finally, (it took 2 weeks and 1 day) I had their names and numbers. I called my sister Debbie first, she is 3 and a half yrs younger than me. I can't tell you how nervous I was! We talked for over 3 hours and laughed and cried. I finally had answers to the questions I've had for 39 yrs. It is an unbelievable feeling!!
I talked to my older sister Jeri next, she is a yr and a half older than me, and finally I talked to my sister Vickie who is less than a yr younger and I found out a FULL sister! She told me who our birth father is and gave me his address and phone number. He wants to meet me too.
Talking to my sisters was like talking to people I have known my whole life, we have so much in common it's spooky. We decided to meet that very weekend, We all live fairly close to each other(within hours). The meeting went great! I was so nervous that I was physically shaking, but after the first 20 mins. I felt like I belonged there. For the first time in my life I was in a room of people I was biologically related to, amazing feeling!!
It's been a whirl wind of a summer for me, I have spent the night at Debbie's and have been to Jeri's house for a visit, and we all talk on the phone alot!! I have also met an Aunt and the Uncle who told my sisters about me. I have 2 other uncles to meet and another aunt. This whole experience has been absolutely wonderful, but the best thing is, I'm now going to stay home and have a 40th b-day party with my sisters here to help me celebrate!!
On Aug 7, I'm will meet the rest of my family, including all Aunts, Uncles and Cousins at a family reunion that I will be the guest of honor at. We are also already planning to spend Christmas together this year.
My parents have been so supportive and are so happy for me, they can't wait to meet my sisters at the b-day party. Things just can't get any better... or can they?
My husband now has told me to plan a trip to DisneyWorld in Oct. for just the 2 of us(6 nights) to celebrate everything that has happened, I'm so happy I could cry!(and I have)
Sorry this is so long, just wanted to share with my friends on the disboards.
