Great Rates at Last Minute?

Do the WDW resorts ever have great rates at the last minute if they are not fulll? I'm interested in the first week of March.

Well, hate to tell you this but - no, they don't seem to. It's been my experience that last minute is the least likely time to get a great rate. March is peak season also. If you have AAA you could try that for a discount. I don't have an AP so I'm not knowledgeable about how those work but I'm sure someone on the boards will know.

Good luck.

We used to be able to book same day and still get a passholder or resident rate. Now days..I can't even book months in advance and get a decent rate. Disney is certainly busy and doesn't feel they need to offer many discounts these days.

We also found out (the hard way) that you can just walk in and get a room at the AAA rate, you have to book ahead of time. We got a room, but had to pay rack rate (at least it was just for one night).

I have AAA and an AP, and only have half of our March stay with a discount. I waited a few days too long to choose everything, and now there are NO AAA or AP discounts at ANY of the WDW resorts. They said that even if someone cancels an AP-discounted room, the resorts are full enough where it might get re-booked for the next customer at just the rack rate. So I am betting, during non-value seasons, you won't get a discount of any sort except by a miracle, lol.

I have been, btw, calling every day to see if any more of our nights can get discounted, but NO luck so far.

Yeah, it's a big bummer. We have often wanted to go on an impromptu trip to WDW and can't get a decent rate. Last August (right before all the storms) my sister and I decided to go with one week's notice and the best we could do was a AAA rate at the Swan.

I'm not sure but have you tried running your dates through on Expedia, Orbitz or travelocity? I remember last year they had some great last minute rates. Expedia especially for Disneyland in California. Just a thought.

My father just told me he is going second week in March for a few nights at WDW, he asked me to check on some rooms at Disney resorts. FWIW, Wilderness Lodge and POR both had some AAA rates available as on 2/17. I think at WL he would save a total of around $100 for three nights in a standard room using AAA rate.
