We are planning a trip in early February for eight days. ParkSavers is offering a great deal today for 7 Day Hopper passes but I need 8 days. Does anyone know if I were to buy the 7 day from them and then "upgrade" to an 8 day when I get to the park what the up-charge would be, or if that's even possible?

Thanks

Absolutely possible you can add the extra day at guest services any time before your ticket expires. The only issue is that you will not be able to schedule your 8th day Fast Passes ahead of time.

No one can give you a definite answer to what the cost will be to upgrade those tickets. The current policy is to charge you the difference between the gate price of the ticket that you hold and the gate price of the ticket that you are upgrading to. In your case, that would be the difference between the price of a 7-day hopper and an 8-day hopper.

The problem would be that this policy can change at any time and prevent you from doing any upgrade at all. And an increase in ticket prices is not unlikely between now and February 2017. Another concern would be if Disney restructures their ticket media. When they did that in 2005, you could no longer upgrade PHs and PHPs to any kind of MYW ticket.

And as a PP pointed out, you would not be able to book FP+ in advance for 8 days of park visits if the tickets that you have only cover 7 days.

Thanks, I hadn't thought about the FP+ part of the equation.
Would you happen to know if when I upgrade would I pay $10 (Disney's price difference from a 7 to an 8 day Hopper) or would they make me buy an extra day (around $100)?

Thanks! Very clear and helpful info!!

How much are you saving on the 7 day discounted ticket vs. an 8 day ticket? Is it enough to cover another activity on a non-park day?

If the upgrade is allowed, you would just pay the difference according to current upgrade procedures. I think you still have to use the ticket at least once first so you get full gate price credited toward the upgrade.

Make sure to "use" the ticket before you try to upgrade! If you've entered a park, it will capture the ticket to the gate price and then the upgrade will go from there. If you try to upgrade before entering, the system will likely capture the value paid and calculate the upgrade from there to the new price - negating your discount on the 7 day.

Price bridging - giving gate price credit for a ticket that was purchased at a discount from a non-Disney source - is a manual process on the part of a ticketing CM, and usage has absolutely nothing at all to do with it. An unused ticket can be price bridged and upgraded if the CM knows what they're doing, and a used ticket can be upgraded without price bridging if the CM doesn't know what they're doing.

OP, as of today, the price difference between a 7 day hopper and an 8 day hopper is $10.65, including tax, and the upgrade you want to do is absolutely allowed and would work fine. No one can guarantee that things won't change before February, but if I had to bet on it, I would say you'll probably be okay.
