Great Portable DVD player- Thanks CTillberg

I received the Audiovox D1730 from bhphotovideo.com just as CTillberg recommended. We love it. It comes with everything BUT the adapter to power into the airline jack(not using the battery) and it has only one earphone jack but we will but an adaptor at RadioShack to remedy that. The ratings of this product are excellent and this has been our experience. What high quality, great picture and sound for a super price. I am SO greatful for these boards and especially the original poster. Susan (Threehearts)

I'm looking into getting one of these myself, after checking it's reveiw on cnet.com, epinions.com, etc. Just in case anyone else was shopping for one of these, I thought I'd pass along an even better price find. I think bhphotovideo is selling these for about $370 which is a great price, but wholesaleconnection.com is selling them for only $299, which is by far the cheapest I've found. Unfortunately, they don't have them in stock and I probably wont be able to order mine in time for our April 30th departure date, but for others who might be interested, I thought I'd post the info.

We just returned from Maui where we used our Audiovox DVD player. We are SO happy with this product but as others have warned- Sound is a little low with earphones and jet engine background noise. You really need high quality earphones. Also, because this player has only one earphone jack, we bouight an adaptor for 2. This product does not have an ability to plug in to the airplane's power source but IMHO is the best of this category and we loved it. We got at least 3 and a half hours from the battery. Good luck. We have a portable DVD player as well. We won't be flying instead we will be driving. At radioshack you can by an adapter (around $30) that will interupt your radio station so you can hear your movie through your car speakers. This will work with any radio not just your car. We have it and it's awesome. The kids really love it. They feel like they're in the movie theater.

I am so glad you are happy with your player! So far we are enjoying it as our bedroom DVD player, I hope it will work well in the car and plane trips we have coming up. I never thought about the difficulty we may have hearing with the jet engine noise. If someone has recommendations on headphones - I would love to hear them. Also, I didn't know planes had power jacks we could use (I have not been on too many plane trips in my life, my parents always drove us to WDW!) . If you have recommendations on a power adapter for the plane - I would love to hear about it!

I called Audiovox and they do not make an adapter for the plane for this model nor is one available. Susan
