DH and DS just went over Thanksgiving to visit my mother-in-law and we stayed in the same hotel we always stay in, Hampton Inn. We love this hotel and they are so nice. Well, the first night, DS started saying his head itched and the pillow was making him itch. Then DH said it was making him itch!!! Nothing bothers me but I did put a t-shirt on the pillows for them and of course I forgot to get them when we left. Now I am worried about our trip in March to WDW. We didn't have trouble last time and have never had this problem before at any hotel. Does anyone know what they was the sheets and pillow cases in at POP? Anyone else ever have this problem?

Stay at a "deluxe" hotel, then you shouldn't have any problems...

Well, I would if I could afford it but I would like to be able to stay more than 2 nights, LOL.

No one in my family had any problems at POP when we stayed there 1 night in September. I have read that sometimes it is the detergent and bleach the sheets are washed in that creates a reaction. I assume that they use the same at all hotels on property, so if you are allergic, it doesn't matter where you stay.

I was there last Feb for 4 and did not have any problems - I do have allergies. You might want to bring a couple of old pillowcases to be safe. I know you'll have to remember to take them off in the morning, but better than a reaction!
Also, linens are not changed everyday at POP unless requested. Think it is every 3rd day - there will be a card explaining the linen change and where to call if you prefer daily.

Not necessarily true I've stayed at most of the deluxes, including S/D, 2 moderates and POP - although the sheets might be a higher thread count, all are laundered the same. One of my kids did have a problem at the BC and Poly.

I agree with BaciBecky and suggest you bringing a few pillowcases from home, then take them off the pillows and put them away before you leave the room for the day.

If you are worried about not remembering the take them off, bring ones that are obviously not standard white hotel pillowcases.

We were just at the Poly in November, and I did have an allergic reaction to the sheets. I am more sensitive to this than others, though, as neither my dh or 3 out of our 4 kids did not have a problem (our one ds, who does have allergy problems, had a slight reaction, but did not break out in the all-over rash like I did).

But don't worry, it didn't damper our trip one bit!

We stayed at the WL several years ago & my DS broke out in a rash on his face, arms, neck anywhere the sheets touched him. I notified mousekeeping and they brought sheets & towels up that were washed in something for people with allergies. ( not sure exactly how they worded it)
The next time we stayed at the WL, I called ahead of time and told them about my sons allergies. A couple of days before arriving I got a call from the WL asking about the severity of his allergies. They needed to know if they had to clean the carpet and even change the drapes in the room before hand.
I told them that it was just a problem with the sheets.
After we checked-in and went to our room a supervisor came to our room to see if everything was ok.
So if you think you will have a problem call ahead of time and have CRO make a note on your resv.
Also we just returned from the CSR and they change sheets every 4 days.

I have this problem with 'down' (I assume thats how its spelt) pillows - I have to use the synthetic fibre ones and if I remember correctly Disney do offer both just in case.

We had adjoining rooms at POP this past May and had no problems at all. It could have been the detergent but if anything like that ever happens again, I would most certainly report it. Disney is very good at trying to resolve and research any concerns that you might have.

I had written a letter to Disney about how dirty our room was in July at PORS. First let me say that once I brought it to the attention of the front desk at Disney, it was taken care of right away. Since what was wrong with our room was something that had happened over time, I decided to write a letter. I got a response the other day by telephone and I asked alot of questions. First of all, he assured me that the complete bedding is to be changed before each new guest. If you feel this hasn't been done, call housekeeping and ask for new bedding. Same goes with vacuuming. He also said the same rule apply to housekeeping whether deluxe or value. Just this past year alone we stayed at PORS 3 times, Coronado Springs once, and All Star Music once. The only bad experience was the 2nd time we stayed at PORS. Our last stay at PORS was THanksgiving weekend. Our room was emaculate. I noticed new vaccuums on the carts. These new ones had attachments to get those hard to reach spots. Also I noticed a shampooer sitting outside of one of the rooms. Our mousekeeping staff did a fantastic job, we tipped well!

I think I may call about this just before our trip. DS didn't break out but itched alot. He seems to be developing more allergies the older he gets. I thought they grew out of these things.

jjarman, make sure that when you call that you have it noted on your resv. & if it is less than 3 days before you arrive, call the resort and ask to talk to mousekeeping. They are very accomadating.
