Do you prefer the cowboy or gangster side? Does it really matter? If so, which line is which? I know I saw somewhere that you go straight for one and turn for the other, but I cannot find it.

Thanks,

Stephanie

I've been on both ... they both use the same load area, as far as I know, but I believe (if you go during a relatively slow time) that you can request one or the other.

The cowboy ride seemed to have some stuff that the gangster ride did not, however, I didn't really enjoy the time I had the cowboy ride, because the "cowboy" was not really a great actress, and said her lines with about the same amount of conviction that one would usually use when reading off the menu at McDonalds.

i have been on the great movie ride 4 or 5 times and ge the gangster ride everytime. I have never asked and dont know if i should, but when i get in the behind vehicle, i know the gangster one is coming.

We are great fans of the Great Movie Ride, and I don't believe I have ever been on it when there was a cowboy. I just thought it was always a gangster. Now I have another reason to keep on riding it!

Well, if both sides of the line are open on the day you're there, stay to the right for Cowboy (that's the front two cars) and the left for the gangster (the two cars in the rear). If you think about it, it has to be that way so that the shows can go on at the same time since the Cowboy section comes after the Gangster section.

I'm not sure I have a preference, but I definitely think it's important to experience each side!

I've been on both, and I don't have a preference for one over the other. As Syracusewolvrine pointed out, what makes a difference is how good your cowboy/gangster is. Up until this last trip, Iall the gangsters I'd seen were good. But this trip I got a lousy gangster, and it made the ride a lot less enjoyable.

I didn't even know there was a difference! I had the ganster and LOVED it. One of my favorite rides of all time!

Maybe I've just been on this ride too many times over the years, but I've done both runs many times before and both seem to be pretty lame anymore. I used to think it was fun and the actors got really into it, but the past few years I've been on the ride the actors just breezed through it and you couldn't even understand what they were saying. There was 0 enthusiasm. That sort of thing is just really disappointing to see at WDW.

Add me to those who never knew the cowboy part existed. We have been on it many times and it is always the gangster.

I was on the ride once, with my girlfriend and her son. We were sitting in the very first seat of the first car, with the gangster. He was afraid of the snakes, and didn't know what to do. My girlfriend was right into the whole theming of it. She shouted to him "You've got the gun! Shoot it!" He just looked at her. Her son and I ducked with embarassment. ROTFL!

we had he gangster for ages but last time we went we asked to go on with the cowboy
i love the ride but i hate the alien everytime i go on have to cover my eyes when we go past the alien
i dont really care if its a robot not real i still hate it it's freaky

We prefer the Western Show. You can ask the CM as you enter if you can get the Western Show and they will accommodate you. I THINK is's the right side queue that gets it. Not positive.

This summer we saw the gangster side for the first time! Didn't realize that there were two different versions ~ we just thought that they had changed the cowboy to the gangster! LOL...

Well, I prefer the gangster side, but then again I am a big city girl at heart.

What a great thread! We just saw the cowboy side at Christmas for the first time. After riding at least a dozen times, we have ALWAYS had the gangster! This is a great ride and even though it's predictable, the effects are wonderful.

Both are good, as long as your gangster or cowboy are into it. Sometimes we have ridden it & they have been so boring, like they dont even care what they are saying, just reading s script. And sometimes they are SO much fun & really get the whole care into it to.

It also helps to have all or most of the guests into the fun to. If everyone just sits there stone face & silent, the cowboy/gangster dont really have a lot to work with, no matter how hard they try. I always feel bad for them.
