I have read there were 2 storylines for this ride, one involves gangsters, the other involves cowboys. Does it mean there is 2 different rides or is it only the theme of the queue that is different ?

Yes, there are 2 differrent story lines, but it is only one ride. It just changes the speil. Without ruining the ride for you, you meet a villian while on the ride (which is a live person)... You meet the gangster in the alley, if you are meeting the cowboy you will go through the alley and into the next show scene where you will meet the cowboy. I have not figured out a way to know ahead of time without asking.

**edited to correct location of cowboy** :)

If they are running both vehicles the one in front will get the cowboys and the one in back will get the gangsters. However when they are not busy they will only runi 1 vehicle and everyone get the gangster scene.

Wow!! I had no idea, I guess we have always had the gangsters, no cowboys!! :rolleyes1

I like the gangsters best anyways.

I have been on COUNTLESS times and have NEVER had the Cowboy.... beginning to think it doesn't exist

I had both parts of the great movie ride the gangster and the cowboy. When the car goes through the doors you to the movie part you can see another set of doors in the theater, cant remember where the car switches to either part of the show even though it was only 2 weeks ago lol.

DITTO!!!! As many times as we have been on that ride, we have never seen the cowboy. Didn't even know it existed. I wonder if there are people who have the opposite experience.....only cowboy and no gangster. :confused3

Just a hello to Sithbladeborn from another Shoreview Disney Fan! :wave2:

When you are loading the vehicle, the first car is Cowboy the second is Gangster. If you want Cowboy request an A show, if you want Gangster request a B show.

I didn't know about this either. We've always gotten the gangster.

Well, it works this way.

All of the cars go via the SAME route, its just that some cars will STOP at a different place to view their respective "live-actor & animatronic scenes".

FIRST group of cars passes right on by the "1930's Gangster Set" and continues on to the "Cowboy Set".

SECOND group of cars STOPS at the "1930's Gangster Set"... and the doors to the "tunnel" close (to completely isolate the two rooms for the different scenes).

The two "live-actor & animatronic scenes" take place at the same time.

The effects in the Gangster room are machine-gun fire and the black "limo" driving in from an adjacent tunnel.

The effects in the Cowboy room include six-gun shooting and fire (BIG fire scene) when the bank "explodes".

IMHO, the Cowboy scene (with the fire) is a far superior effect. So, if you have not seen it, ask to sit in the first set of "cars".
(It should be easy if you tell the loading CM that you will be happy to wait for the "next departure", if need be.)

NOTE: If you ARE riding on the second set of cars (Gangster scene) pay attention as your cars pass by the (now quiet) Cowboy scene... you can feel the HEAT still radiating off of the (recently "blazing") bank (you can see the "scorch-marks" above the windows, too).

BTW, its also possible that when the ride is not busy (early in the morning, for instance) that they only do ONE scene.

Since the Cowboy scene costs more to perform (with all that "propane" expense for the fire effects), I'm assuming they only do the Gangster scene (and not BOTH) until the queue starts filling.

Could be why more folks have seen that one (I certainly have seen it more often than the FIRE.)

We have only ridden this once and we got the cowboy scene. Maybe next time we'll get the gangsters since this seems to be the more common one.

Learn something new every day. I don't ride this every time, but have probably ridden a dozen times, and never had a cowboy. :(

:sad2: I want to ride. The cowboy and gangster sound so neat. I have a serious snake phobia. :scared:

I'm in the "didn't know there was a cowboy scene" crowd!!! As many times as we've ridden this, we've NEVER seen the cowboy thing. WOW, another "something new to do!!!"

Well, there are NO SNAKES in the Great Movie Ride.

Just plenty of FAKE snakes.

So unless you have a serious RUBBER phobia, you are in no danger.

:goodvibes

The difference is, if you had a phobia of FIRE, you should not ride.

There is REAL fire (in the Cowboy scene).

But the "snakes" are just dummies.

(Close your eyes).

WOW!! I had no clue.. what an incentive for me to ride it again.. hopefully I will get the cowboy one next time.. I've only gotten the gangster one..
