Have never ridden. We were going to make a quick swipe through Disney Studios on our visit next month, hitting the highlights. Thought this ride sounded intriguing.

What's the general consensus?

We really liked the Great Movie Ride. It's a classic Disney ride - great animation and detail.

I'll second that...great ride!!

Our family really enjoys this ride, and all of MGM for that matter. I have seen young kids scared on this ride though. There are gangster "shooting", an alien, ect. Mine have never been scared of it. Please also be aware that this is always for us our longest wait at MGM. Don't know if it is just slow loading, very popular, or what but plan on spending some time there unless the whole park is REALLY slow when you are there. I think you will enjoy it though:)

I consider it a not to be missed attraction at MGM. If the line extends outside the building, come back later - the que inside is very long.

My whole family enjoyed this ride! My DD, who turned 2 on our last trip, loved it, she even clapped at the end of the gangster bit, after the gun shots. For comparison, she wimpered all the way through POTC, so some young children will be fine with it and some won't.

This was my favorite ride at MGM on previous trips (yes, even after I rode TOT for the first time, I still loved Movie Ride). This last time, though, it lost something for me. A lot depends on the acting ability of your guide, and we got some real duds. Though that provided a certain amount of amusement in itself.

If the line's not too long (it often is, for us it was often more of a wait than TOT), definitely give it a try- it does have some amazing scenes and music.

Truthfully I thought it was ok but my husband said that it was something he would like to skip for now on. I didn't think that the gangster and Alien parts were kid friendly at all, but our DD loved the Oz part. Our DS is fascinated with anything that is animatronic so any ride that had that was a good ride as far as he was concerned.

My family loves this one and if we couldn't do it, we wouldn't go. You'll enjoy it. Have a wonderful trip!

TGMR was in rehab and I was heartbroken. I just felt like I was missing something. Love that ride and looking forward to it this coming February!

I must stay with the majority on this one. Our family loves the Great Movie Ride. Very scenic and easy to get sucked into the adventure.:wave2:

I think the ride is definately a great "classic". The animatronics are great, and it is so wonderful to ride through the greatest moments of the classic movies. You should definately do this at least once because there is nothing like it.

Unless the line is outside, you must experience it!

Ignoring Dumbo, it seems to be the slowest moving line in WDW. Which doesn't make sense. Each "car" holds a lot of people...

Another vote for the GMR. We never miss it. It is always near the top of our list for MGM in this order:

RNRC
TOT
GMR
MV3D
Indy
Backlot Tour (may be moved to the bottom)
Millionaire
One Man's Dream
Fantasmic (last but not least)

We always have to eat lunch at Pizza Planet!

We love it as well. My dd, 11, is still a bit afraid of the Alien part but other than that, she's fine.

Count me in the minority. It is a good ride to do if you have never ridden- if not so you can make your own opinion. I consider it a 'will do' ride if the line is 20 minutes or less...
