Great movie ride and other rides leaving for good????

OMG..DHS and EPCOT are hanging by a thread as it is!

What a brilliant move to take away even more rides from two parks that are barely limping along.

If they were to do *this* it would be yet *another* reason for people to just visit the MK while they stay offsite and spend even more dollars at Universal.

Only 1 thing on there is confirmed and that is the poly lobby. None of those other things have strong reasoning behind them except for soarin because they are working on a new film for that attraction.

Cool...Soarin' definitely needs something new. No more dust spots on the screen please.

They're getting rid of Maelstrom?!?! That's been a tradition of mine for two decades of hitting Epcot!!! I noticed this last week that there is some construction already being made on the outside where you "go over the falls" to the open window...

And I thought "Soarin" was super popular? It always has a wait :/ I'm confused.

It's probably worth going to read the link. Soarin isn't going away, it's getting an update.

I highly doubt taking away TGMR and Malestrom would send people running to Universal.

Those two rides are mostly "old-timer" rides, loved and adored by those of us who are die-hard WDW fans. They aren't exactly attracting any new visitors, or loved by the younger crowd (mostly). And they certainly wouldn't just demolish them and leave a gaping hole. They would be replaced by something newer and (arguably) better - in the case of Malestrom, a ride capitalizing on the biggest thing that has happened to Disney Studios since The Lion King/Little Mermaid/Beauty and the Beast era. That's not exactly going to send people running to Universal, it will bring them to World Showcase.

Keeping old rides (TGMR being an opening day attraction, Malestrom opened when Norway did in 1988) without updating or replacing them is exactly what does send more dollars and foot traffic to Universal.

(And I say that as someone who loves both TGMR and Malestrom.)

"I can't wait to ride that ride about the history of Norway, its myths and oil industry!" - Said no kid ever

"I can't wait to see Elsa and Anna!" - Says most every kid going to a Disney park these days

You know a Frozen ride would add a lot to Epcot, peeps would be lining up for that for hours. I read they are just making a new film for soarin which of course would change the way the ride moves ect. But can't imagine that would ever go bye bye. On the Polynesian I think once the renovations are done it will be even better and loved by everyone.
One thing is only for sure .... Change happens : )

The Soarin' update is way overdo...and now that I've finally seen Frozen I can see why Disney wants to get more Frozen into the parks. I love Maelstrom, but Epcot needs anything new at this point.

Soarin' update is sorely needed.

Maelstrom changing to Frozen makes complete sense. Gotta ride that popularity wave.

Captain EO - I figured it was only a matter of time until it went away again. It was only dusted off and brought back out when MJ died.

TGMR - could this be an update too? The movies portrayed during the ride are, while fantastic cinema, quite dated. Maybe they're going to update a section or two to movies the newer generations can relate to more readily?

Poly fountain - I'm going to miss that. It was quite beautiful!

I sure wish someone would tell all those people taking up dining reservations, and lines, and walk-ways, and viewing areas this. It should would be easier to enjoy the parks without all those drags on the profits.:scratchin

Seems its a great week for RUMOURS!, totally unsupported RUMOURS!

The same RUMOUR blog that started these also said they would remove the GMR and put in a STAR WARS LAND and another said it would be Cars Lands and another said Indiana jones and New York street will be taken out and a new Indiana land.

Just got to love the RUOURS!

Count me as one of those folk who don't like Maelstrom. I got caught several times on that movie and didn't realize I could skip it. Ugh. :headache:

It was enough to convince me never to do the ride again. Even once I realized I could skip the dang thing.

Well it's almost a given that sometime in the future more Star Wars will come it's just where will it go and when will it come.

Thank goodness it's posted in the "Disney RUMORS and News" section then, right? ;)

Plus, the Poly thing is for real. They've already released the concept drawings and everything.
