AAA travel insurance is offered by the same company who does DCL. No surprise for most people. But recently they have changed their pricing to be MUCH cheaper than Disney because kids (17 and under) are FREE - adults pay based on how much their cruise cost (not the entire cost just for that one adult).
I had orginally decided to use them to save about $50 over disney - waiting unil the 60 day mark to pay for the insurance. With the new pricing, my July cruise insurance cost just $63 for myself and three kids...such a deal! You just call the toll free number (provided by AAA) and charge the fee.
Pays for a few frosty fruity drinks!!!

Hey Prof>

Takes one to know One!

Questions:

1. Does the AAA insurance cover both Cancellation AND Medical Expenses?

2. What's the number?

Thanks

Prof. Jim

I have just looked on Access America's website (the insurance my AAA agent booked for all 5 of us) and they aren't discounting for children.

Is your insurance Access America? Which cruise are you on - 3, 4, or 7 night?

I have a call into my AAA agent (who has been great) and am waiting to get a call back from her.

I am on the 4 night but it doesn't really matter - it goes by the cost of the cruise for me - I was in the $1000-$1500 bracket which was $60 plus the $3 processing fee.

I did not use the web (brochure said call only). I just called the toll free which is in the brochure from AAA. I needed the code from the brochure - I would guess to get the AAA rates.

As far as I can tell the policies (DCL versus Access) look exactly the same. I do have a $50 deductible for medical (who cares) and a limit for medical evacuation - I forget, it is something like $5000 (which might not cover all of a helicpoter ride but that is not my concern). In my opinion, insurance is for basically for one problem: we can't go because one of my kids is sick/hurt (or we can't leave the cabin for the same reason). Seems that is the most likely in the list of unexpected. I have good medical coverage which will cover most medical expenses regardless of location.

Did you need to book your cruise with AAA to get this insurance rate? And again do you know the number to call or should I just contact my local AAA office and they'll have the same rate? Thanks

AccessAmerica is the vendor for trip insurance of any kind through AAA. It doesn't matter if you used AAA for your cruise or anyone else. If you call AAA they can give you the code number at the bottom of the brochure and the toll free number.

Barbara,

Which AAA club do you belong to? Indianapolis? and what was the code and phone number that you used?

I called my AAA agent, who has been great about everything, and she knew nothing about it. When I called Access America with the code AAA gave me, he said could be different based on which club.

Help!

OK, I called AAA and here is what I know:

There are two plans offered Family Care: (Code #1495) and a delux plan which I did not inquire about (#1494). The toll free number in the brochure (OK, am I supposed to post this or am I breaking any posting rules????) is 866-455-6111

My agent says that AAA only recommends Access America but that their rates have nothing to do with being a AAA member.

Just transferred from coverage from Disney to AccessAmerica directly.

Used their "Travel with ease" comprehensive and saved $109.00 based on our trip (2 rooms). We went from $396 to 287 (incl $3 svc chg at AccAmerica).

If you want to see Disney's coverage At access America call AA at 1-800-573-5665. Disney is Group 2043. AA will send/fax you the coverage, and it is identical to their "Travel with ease" comprehensive with the exception of DIS plan has a bit higher baggage coverage. Trip cancellation/medical same.

Kids are NOT free, but reduced rate based on age.

One advatage we picked up is now our Flights are covered, where they wern't before since we didn't book through DIS. This gives us another $1,000 of important coverage in the unlikely event.....

The steps I tooks were to:
1. got to AA web site, get all the way thorugh the price quote process, but did not submit final credit card data yet..
2. called DIS and cancelled insurance (DIS faxed new confirmation)
3. Entered Credit card data and hit send to AA
4. Got confirmation from AA.
5. Bragged to my wife how smart I am when it is really this board!

Here is access america's web site:

Actually kids are free under the Family Care plan which I couldn't find on the internet anywhere but was available by phone.
