We dined at Jiko Saturday night. Service was spotty. Our server who we've had before and not had problems with was slow and forgot DH's appetizer. The food was good and for one of the first times ever I was able to find something other than sorbet on the dessert menu that worked with my allergies.

We both had the beef tenderloin, it seems that the portion of mac and cheese is about half of what it once was. We arrived about 5:50 for our 6:00pm reservation, and were kept waiting until about 6:25, many others who arrived after us were seated promptly. We enjoyed the wait at the bar with "She who would rather not be named on the Internet."

While the food was great as usual, it seemed to be an off night for service.

Sunday we ate at the Kona Cafe. We were seated promptly, again the server seemed off. I had chicken terriyaki, DS had beef terriyaki, not sure what DH had, he inhaled it before I had the chance to look, so it must have been good. Portions were plentiful, and none of us had room for dessert. Again, our server seemed harried and "off." As if she had lost her groove and couldn't get it back together. With what I could tell she had four tables and seemed to be acting as if she had eight. While I wouldn't call the service bad, it wasn't as attentive as it could, and should have been.

For both I'd give the food an "A", and the service a "C+."

Well--good service is always part of a good meal so not good news at either spot!! And the wait at Jiko seems curious as well. And the Mac and cheese cutback--
What dessert did you get??

Thanks for reviews Anne. :thumbsup2 Was there any new items on the Jiko menu ? Also would like to know about dessert :cloud9:

DH got the bananna split--interestingly they can replace the coffee ice cream with vanilla but not chocolate, which we found odd.

I had the apple something, it was Granny Smith's sliced up in a cinnamon and marscapone concoction--excellent! The tartness of the apples was nuetralized by the sweetness of the marscapone--but not overly sweet.

I don't recall any new items since I last dined there back in mid-March, but that doesn't mean there weren't any, just not that I noticed.

Still noticably missing are the beef cinnamon stick appetizers that Jiko had become "famous" for. If there's one single item at WDW that I wish they would bring back, that's very likely it.
