Great Expectations by Charles Dickens

I just finished my first summary :) it took like two weeks (the book finally got boring to me), but I got it! lol 1 down, 9 or 10 to go lol

Sparknotes.com is a lifesaver. 'nuff said

I wouldn't put all my faith in it though. My HS english lit teacher used it, but not to get questions. He read what whas on sparknotes and then made his lesson plan around what WASN'T. So if somebody used sparknotes he knew because they wouldn't be able to answer his questions.

I think most teachers do this. I know all my literature teachers/professors have. They told us up front not to use sparksnotes or cliffnotes as an excuse to not read the book

well I'm reading it (sadly), but I have trouble with the work that goes with it :/ ugh.

ok. so one thing we have to do is to: find a song or poem that best describes an event/s in the novel. Include the title, the author's name, and the words to th song or poem and write an explanation why this is an appropriate selection (125-150 words). Help????

It's a wonderfully written book. I love Dickens.
It's sad, and it's a pretty hard book but if you really work hard you can enjoy it.

I read it a long time ago so I don't remember too much, but I liked it.

Maybe try and find the parts where he talks about Estella and how he felt about her. How he loved her but she broke him in every way possible.
Then find a song that fits that description, there should be plenty of songs representing the way he feels.

It's not that exciting. The writings good, but its basically just a biography of this guys life..
A Tale of Two Cities, in my opinion, is a far superior novel.
