After lots of planning, the day finally arrived for our dinner at the Coral Reef. There was 7 of us and I had arranged for the Diver and personalized menus. Prior to leaving I sent the pictures for them to use.

We were hungry early so we checked in about a 1/2 hour prior to our ADR. We had to wait until about our ADR to be seated but the manager checked in with us a couple times letting us know that the long wait was that they were waiting to get us close to the tank so we could better see the diver and sign.

Once seated our waitress took our order. We were on the dining plan and she had us order everything right away. Not a big deal but some of the group hadn't picked a desert yet.

The 4 adults had the chilled shrimp, New England Cod Carke, the Sea and Land and a Caesar salad. Everybody liked their appetizer. For entrees we had the Grilled Mahi Mahi(substituted for the Au Gratin potatos), Grilled Pork Chops,Alaskan crab legs and the seared sterling salmon. Everyone liked their entree except DH would had the Pork Chop, he didn't think it had much flavor and was kind of dry.
For desert we adults had the Chocolate wave- Great as usual but would be better with the vanilla icecream.
The 3 kids had the Shrimp Pasta (DN14)and 2 (DS9 &DS6)orders of the Mac and cheese. They all liked their meals as well.

So all and all we had a great meal and it was a lot of fun to suprise the group with the diver and menus! Thanks for reading.:thumbsup2

sounds like you had a great meal!

we'll be at coral reef this coming sunday night - can't wait!!

Sounds like a wonderful meal, thanks for posting.

thanks for posting.we'll be eating dinner there for the first time in december, can't wait!

Thanks for the review. We're packing our bags in two weeks. We have an ADR on 11/14 for Coral Reef with the diver and menu. Can't wait! :woohoo: I'm glad the the pork chop didn't have much flavor. That's perfect for my picky DW. :rotfl:

Thanks for the review we decided to try it for the first time for our April trip and now I can't wait to try it even more.

My wife and I dined at Coral Reef for the first time last week. It was the final dinner of a two week trip. We were not on the dining plan. I had the shrimp with penne pasta and my wife had the salmon with ratatouille. We were not that adventurous for the first course; I had a caesar salad and she had wild mushroom soup. For dessert we had the Bailey's and Jack Daniels Chocolate Mousse. I have to say that I enjoyed dessert more than any other part of the meal. The mousse was perfect. The shrimp pasta was good, but the penne pasta had been cooked a little too long. The shrimp were flavorful and large. My wife really enjoyed the salmon, which she thought was cooked extremely well. Her only complaint was that the mushroom soup was a little too thick. She didn't really care for the ratatouille either, but I think that's because she'd never had it before.

I have to say that while the food was good, it wasn't excellent. The service from the waitstaff was attentive but not intrusive, which is exactly how I like it. The main attraction for the Coral Reef is the gigantic fishbowl... I do understand that. It was the reason we went to the Coral Reef in the first place. The dining room is cozy, but the view is definitely worth it. The food was decidedly inferior to the Flying Fish Cafe at the Boardwalk, where everything was cooked perfectly and served with more flair, but the Coral Reef is still a great option inside of Epcot. I hope you like it!

We thought the food was fantastic when we ate there in August. I guess it's what your used too also. My kids even loved it. And not only the atmosphere, but also the food. The service was also fantastic.

Always glad to hear positive reviews for CR...we loved it here and had THE best server ever! It was our first night and set the tone for our whole trip!!!

I ate at Coral Reef last month on my birthday and had a great meal as well. My DSis and family are at WDW now. I was their "travel agent" and Coral Reef was their dinner destination on Friday night. My DBil called me today to rave about the great meal they had. I'm glad that it didn't disappoint :).

We could not get ADR's fro CR at all during our 2007 vacation (began booking 4 months ahead and I even kept calling to see if there were cancellations). :sad1: It is going to be the very first ADR I make at 180 days out for our 2008 trip. It looks beautiful and the majority of people rave about the food! We plan to celebrate my birthday there! :thumbsup2

I am glad to hear that you liked it so well. We are eating there for the 1st time on December 28 as part of the Candlelight Processional Dinner Pkg. It is also our 5th wedding anniversary that day so it will be very special to go there with our family. We can't wait!

Hands down, Coral Reef was the best meal we ate while at the parks this past summer!!

Great review!!

What is this....The personalized menus...the diver ??? I understand the concept of the restaurant and have been to similar restaurants before but I have never heard about the personalized aspect and I am very curious.

My boyfriend and I were just there in mid-October and felt that this was the best Table Service meal we had during our stay. It was also great fun surprising him with the personalized menu and diver!

overthemoon4mickey - I sent an email to the Coral Reef before the trip and they incorporated my photos into a special menu with our names on it. There was also a diver in the tank that swam over to our table holding up a sign with a message that we had pre-arranged. I've heard that there may be changes to this program for 2008, but right now it is all free.

I'm glad to see the positive reviews. We ate there in April and while the patrons themselves were rude (parents allowing their kids to push and shove into our table to see the aquarium and then telling their kids it was "ok" when I gave them dirty looks), the food and service was relatively good. Much better than most of the other restaurants we tried on the meal plan. A hundred times better than MM and TTS, but not quite as good as LTT.
I'd say on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being excellent- I'd give it a 7. The downside was the portions- seemingly small, but comparable with all the other WDW restaurants we tried (except for LTT, which I'd give a 10).

Just my opinion of course.

I just cant understand why parents would allow their kids to intrude on other guests' dinners and stand by the aquarium??!!!!

There is a whole, HUGE area to do this , thats not in the restaurant! We were fortunate enough to have a booth down in front, however, I felt badly for guests that had these kids squeezing in between them, and then shouting...look at that...shame on those parents...just my opinion.
