Just got back from our terrific stay at BWV... we had a wonderful time...the resort was in tip-top shape... and our 1BR was perfect!

...better than perfect actually. We booked a standard view 1BR, and were given rm 4004, which faces directly toward the Swan. From our room we had a great view of the swan/dolphin area, the canal, the ToT, and at night we'd catch the Fantasmic fireworks, just over the tree-tops.

I was expecting a dull view of the parking-lot. What a pleasant surprise! ::yes::

sorry i cant comment on your standard/upgrade view , we always have had either the standard view/parking lot or used points for the boardwalk view and recieved an excellent boardwalk view 2 nd floor and 5th floor, we loved the 5th floor, we thought 2nd floor was noisey right over one of the restaruants.

great news about your view , im wondering too if you recieved an upgrade for the standard view points.

We also had requested a standard view room last week and were given 5002. I don't know if it is a standard view or not. When checking in the CM explained that he didn't have and BW views that he could give us but we could have our choice of several others. The walk down the hall was horrible though!

We had room 4002 last June, was the last room at the end of the hall. It was booked as a Standard 1 bedroom, so I would say yours is also a standard view since you should have been the same location as us except one floor up.

The location does have a great view so I could see how you could have thought it was a upgrade! :)

TimC....from your description I'd say that you got an upgrade to a preferred view! I didn't think that any standard rooms had a canal/water view. Congratulations on your good fortune!:)

I was in 3002 as a standard view in April. I think since this area looks over the roof of the former DVC offices, with Jellyrolls dumpster area to the right, they consider it standard view. I wouldn't be happy with that room as a preferred but it is good for standard. I actually liked the standards facing the driveway better since most have Illuminations views.

I had that exact room (actually 4004 & 4006 as a 2BR) over Christmas vacation. I too had booked a standard, and was pleasantly surprised by the great view. Later I verified if the room was indeed a standard or if I'd been upgraded to a preferred. The CM said that it was standard.

Glad you enjoyed your stay so much! :D

I'm glad you got such a great view! I tried for a BW view last January, but there were none left. Instead I got the last room in the hallway, right next to the stairs which had a double balcony looking out over Luna Pool, the canal, the Swan and Dolphin, AND I had a window along the other wall which looked out over the canal and Tower of Terror. One night around 11 PM, I heard boom boom boom, and I ran to the window facing ToT to see what was going on. I saw the most beautiful firework display I think I've ever seen and they seemed right outside my window. We found out there was a private party for the bigwigs of WDW going on that night. Cooool.

Anyway, glad you had such a nice view. Views mean a great deal to me, always have, and I am glad you were pleasantly surprised. It's all just part of the magic. ::MickeyMo

Oh yeah... that happened to us this trip as well. At about 11pm, what must have been a private party at MGM cranked up with booming music. I was suprised how loud it was... DW was not very impressed. At midnight, they set off a major fireworks show, very similar to the Wishes show at MK. We had a perfect view... not bad for a standard view room! :earseek:

I had a standard view one bedroom in January in that location. Room 4010. I agree with DebbieB, that it was nice for a standard, but I would not be happy if my preferred points got me a room there. Glad you enjoyed it!

We just returned from a stay in a 1-Bedroom Std View - we were in 2010. the room overlooked the little garden near the former DVC sales area. It was a very quiet location, and fairly convenient - just down the hall to stairs to get to the clown pool, and very close to the Swolphin boat dock.

My only real complaint is that I was totally turned around in there! I don't think I went the right way leaving our room once! I would exit the room and turn right when I should have gone left, or left when I should have gone right... And I would try and outsmart myself ('I *think* I should go left, but I'm usually wrong so I'll go right... and I should have gone left!) but that didn't work either!!!! It was just silly.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure that was no upgrade... just gold ol' Std View.

WOW ....that is a standard view?? We had 4004 and 4006 two weeks ago. I booked a standard view and assumed when I saw it we had been upgraded.
We loved it! We woke up evey morning and looked out the window at TOT and Mickey's Hat. Loved sitting on the balcony and watching the boats go from MGM to Epcot. I would love to get that room again.
