Great, budget appetizers?

Do you have a picture of this?

I found this:

Looks great!!

This is the bomb as far as my family is concerned. Everyone, from little kids to my mom in her 80s loves it.

Nacho Dip

Thoroughly blend together 8 oz. cream cheese and 1 c. small curd cottage cheese until smooth.
Stir in 1/2 pkg. taco seasoning, or more to taste.
Spread the mixture on the bottom of a pie/quiche plate.
Add in layers: torn lettuce [we usually omit the lettuce], grated yellow cheddar cheese, sliced green onions, chopped tomatoes.
Spread 1 small can taco sauce over the top.
Microwave on high for 40-50 seconds.
Serve with nacho chips arranged around the edge of the plate, or in a basket.
Note: If you need to transport the dip, it is easiest to do so if you assemble it completely except for the tomatoes and the taco sauce.

Hot artichoke dip:
1 cup of hell man's mayo
1 cup kraft Parmesan cheese...the kind in the green canister
2 cans of quartered artichoke hearts, drained and chopped a bit smaller
As much garlic as you like. I like a lot so I put 6 to 8 chopped cloves in

Put into a ovenproof casserole dish and bake at350 until the top is brown and bubbly

If you want to add spinach, a 10 ounce frozen package can be defrosted, drained and chopped before adding to the mixture.

Is this the TACO ring?

No- but it is the same concept but with other ingredients- Pampered Chef has both the taco ring AND the spinach ring in it's cookbooks...both good- we just do not eat a ton of red meat so do not do the taco...I was just giving a second way to do the ring...

Breadsticks...spread cream cheese on them and wrap with a slice of Salami....so so good!

sounds so odd but i just made it on sunday and it was amazing. Huge hit.

Bag of frozen meatballs (you can use turkey if you're being healthy)
1 jar of Heinz chili sauce
1 jar of grape jelly
(the jelly and the chili sauce i used were both 12 oz)

Combine the chili sauce and jelly in a sauce pan. Simmer till jelly is melted, stirring occasionally. Then throw everything into a crock pot.

sooo good!

It sounds so strange but it is sooooooo good! My DD8 asks for these any time we need appetizers for something.

Brown 1 lb hamburger & 1lb sausage. Add 8 oz block velveta cheese, cubed..Cook till melted.

Scoop onto rye party bead squares (1 pk does this amount of mix)

Bake in oven till all melted & gooey, about 10-15 minutes at 400.

YUMMY.

We love these, too! Yum! I might have to make them for Christmas Eve, we haven't had them in awhile.

These always get rave reviews and I am always asked for the recipe...

Bacon wrapped chicken bites

1 1/4 pounds boneless, skinless, chicken breasts (about 4 breasts)
1 (1-pound) package sliced bacon
2/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons chili powder

Cut chicken breasts into 1-inch cubes. Cut each bacon slice into thirds. Wrap each chicken cube with bacon and secure with a wooden pick. Stir together brown sugar and chili powder. Dredge wrapped chicken in mixture. Coat a rack and broiler pan with nonstick cooking spray. Place chicken wrap on rack in broiler pan. Bake 350 for 30 to 35 minutes or until bacon is crisp.

My go to the artichoke dip recipe posted above! Here's another:
Spread a tortilla with cream cheese layer with salami, sliced olives, and sliced banana peppers. Roll up and slice into pinwheels. Easy to make as many or as few as you need and travel well.

Bacon & Cheddar Spring Rolls

1-2 cup bag of fancy shredded cheddar
1-bag of bacon crumbles
1-package egg roll wrappers
2-eggs

Mix bacon & cheddar together-set aside
mix up eggs to use as an egg wash
baste both sides of egg roll wrapper with egg wash-fill center with about 1 palm full of bacon & cheese mix. Wrap up according to package directions--like a soft taco. You can either fry them in light oil(like a fry daddy, etc) or bake until golden brown. This yields 20-25 for less than $10. We serve with ranch. Everyone loves them!

Enjoy!!

These are soooo good. I hope my BIL will be bringing them for Christmas Eve. They were quite a hit last year.

Thanks for all the ideas! I make the bacon wrapped chestnuts previously mentioned and they always go over well. I think I will try the bacon wrapped chicken bites for Christmas Eve.

Taco roll-ups (pinwheels)
8 oz cream cheese
1 pkg taco seasoning
small can of chopped green chilles (I have substituted a small amount of jalapenos finely chopped)

Mix all ingredients together and spread on approximately 8 flour tortillas, roll up and then slice appx 1/2 inch thick. Very pretty arranged on a platter with a bowl of salsa in the middle.

TOMATO BACON BITES

½ cup grated Swiss cheese
½ cup mayonnaise
1/3 cup crumbled bacon (pre-packaged real bacon pieces can be substituted)
1 small onion minced or very finely chopped
2 plum tomatoes seeded and finely chopped
1 tsp. dried basil

1 can flaky buttermilk biscuits, 10 count

Combine the first six ingredients. Refrigerate until ready to use.

Carefully divide each flaky biscuit into 2 or 3 thin layers and press into mini muffin cups.

Put approximately 1 tsp of filling into each cup – don’t overfill.

375 degrees for 17 minutes. Bake until crust is gold and filling is bubbly.

Someone brought this to a party we went to recently. Everyone loved it. We seemed to run out of bread before the dip so maybe 2 loaves (or maybe they only brought a small loaf?)

White Pizza Dip Recipe

* 1 envelope Lipton Recipe Secrets Savory Herb with Garlic Soup Mix ( if you can't find, any garlic and herb mix should work)

* 1 cup (8 oz) ricotta cheese
* 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
* 1/4 cup chopped pepperoni (optional)
* 1 loaf Italian or French bread, sliced

Preheat oven to 350
in 1 quart casserole, combine herb mix with sour cream, ricotta cheese, 3/4 cup mozzarella and pepperoni
Sprinkle with remaining 1/4 cup mozzarella cheese
Bake uncovered 30 minutes or until heated through
serve with bread
makes about 2 cups

Very similar to the recipe I use. Differences: I use sour cream instead of cottage cheese (will have to try the CC) and I don't add taco sauce. We eat it cold with the lettuce and I usually have sliced black olives on it too.

If you run the math, deviled eggs will just about always be the cheapest thing you can bring to a party. After you buy the eggs, you probably have the rest of the ingredients in your fridge already. Deviled eggs are kind of a pain to transport though.:wave2:

That's why I have two Rubbermaid Egg Taker containers...though 2 trays is never enough for our gatherings. The only downside of them is that each will hold 20 eggs - weird that they didn't think to hold to an entire dozen of egg halves.

I agree with the cost. We always have Miracle Whip (sorry, no Mayo in our deviled eggs) and yellow mustard...the most basic of recipes is the one liked best in our house.
