Great, budget appetizers?

Scramble 1lb ground beef w/ 9 oz of fresh spinach (we just buy a bag of it), while cooking season w/ garlic powder, onion powder (we usually brown fresh onions & ginger, but U said quick :)) & 4Tbs soy sauce. let cool. roll 3Tbs mixture into a pre-made egg roll wrappers & fry. We add a tspn of whipped cream cheese as a variation on some. They are best hot, but good at room temperature too. We pick up some sweet & sour sauce from our favorite Chinese food restaurant for dipping. This is a great way to get the little ones to eat their veggies.:teacher:

Sausage balls: Everyone fights over them.

2 cups Bisquick
10 oz. EXTRA SHARP shredded cheddar cheese
1 pound ground sausage

Mix it all together...it takes awhile, but stick with it...lol. I use my hands and mix until it makes a big ball of dough. Roll into balls about the size of a large marble or walnut. You can put alot on a cookie sheet. They puff up but not much, so I usually put about 60 or so on a sheet. Bake until they've browned, 350 degrees about 15-18 minutes. Everyone loves them. I usually have to make a double recipe, and really, you can't mess them up. Usually I "eyeball" everything and they still come out great.

I always make these ahead of time, but use 1/2 cheddar cheese and 1/2 Monterey Jack with jalapenos for the cheese. I make them up ahead of time, freeze on cookie sheets, then once they are frozen, put them in gallon zip lock freezer bags. I don't cook them though, until just before serving. They freeze uncooked very well. In fact, I've doubled the recipe and have a gallon bag completely full in my freezer right now, ready to cook on Christmas day.:rotfl:

Enjoy!

Oh, and here's another variation of the jelly/meatball recipe that I want to try-from OceanSpray

ULTIMATE PARTY MEATBALLS
RATE THIS RECIPE
INGREDIENTS:

1 14-ounce can Ocean Spray® Jellied Cranberry Sauce
1 12-ounce bottle Heinz® Chili Sauce
1 2-pound bag frozen, pre-cooked, cocktail-size meatballs

DIRECTIONS:

Combine sauces in a large saucepan. Cook over medium-low heat, stirring until smooth. Add meatballs. Cover and cook for 15 minutes or until meatballs are heated through, stirring occasionally.

Makes 30 appetizer servings.

Slow cooker Preparation: Place meatballs in a slow cooker. Combine sauces and pour over meatballs. Cover and cook 4 hours on HIGH.

This sounds really good and I want to try this Christmas or New Years

I also make these and make them ahead of time. Once everything is melted in the crockpot I cut the crock pot off, let them cool, then put them in gallon freezer zip locks, and freeze. Christmas I will just dump them out of the gallon bags, back into the crock pot and heat. You can also substitute little smokey sausages for the meatballs.

Pigs in a blanket/Mushroom/Tomato Puffs

Pillsbury cresent rolls
desired cheese
little smokies
cherry tomatos
whole mushrooms

Roll small slice of cheese and eigther, a little smokie, a cherry tomato, or a mushroom inside of a cresent roll. Bake in greased baking pan at 345 for 12-14 min or until rolls are done.

Stuffed mushrooms

Whole button mushrooms capped
Flavored cream cheese
Italian bread crumbs

Fill mushroom caps with flavored cream cheese (I use eigther smoked salmon or garden vegtable). Sprinkle with bread crumbs. Bake at 350 for 12-15min or until brown and bubbly.

Hot artichoke dip:
1 cup of hell man's mayo
1 cup kraft Parmesan cheese...the kind in the green canister
2 cans of quartered artichoke hearts, drained and chopped a bit smaller
As much garlic as you like. I like a lot so I put 6 to 8 chopped cloves in

Put into a ovenproof casserole dish and bake at350 until the top is brown and bubbly

If you want to add spinach, a 10 ounce frozen package can be defrosted, drained and chopped before adding to the mixture.

Do you think this could also be done in a crockpot?

I don't have measurements, have always eyeballed it and adjusted to taste. Add to egg yolks: regular or lite miracle whip, yellow mustard and a splash of milk. Mix in food processor for smooth filling. Garnish with a sprinkle ground paprika. Miracle whip already has the vinegar in it, and I don't see a reason to sweeten. I like them with a little tang.

This is exactly how we make deviled eggs. Yumm!
