I purchased Rebecca for my dd4 from The American Girl Store, 4 days later I gave my son a doll from My Sibling Dolls, I have to say the two are very comparable, They say that the AG dolls hair is so much better but I have to say that Rebecca's hair is a pain, by the 2nd day it was a ratted mess and my daughter didn't do anything out of the ordanary with the doll, by the 2nd week Rebecca's arms no longer stay where you put them if you are trying to "pose" her, however the doll I purchased from My Sibling Dolls, that is played with just as equally, still has the stifness in his joints and BONUS they have BOY dolls at half the cost of AG dolls and even more awesome they support a great cause!

I really wish I had purchased the My Sibling doll for my daughter as well... Just thought I would pass along this other alternative to American Girl Dolls that I found.

For more information the dolls can be seen by going to www.mysiblingdolls.com

Just wanted to give this another bump. I ordered my 2nd My Sibling Doll on Friday and she arrived Monday in the mail. That is some speedy shipping!

I hope that others will look into this great company!

Make sure you use a wig brush or a wig pick (I think that's what they're called) for Rebecca's hair. You can re curl her hair using your fingers or foam rollers. Check out this youtuber for lots of AG tips ~ http://www.youtube.com/user/stephenswodadancer

I'm glad you're pleased with the My Sibling Dolls ~ what a great cause! I don't like their faces as much as American Girl dolls. DD has a Springfield Collection doll that I purchased at Michael's for $10 (using a 40 or 50% off coupon) ~ she's lovely but her hair didn't stay lovely for long so I re wigged her ~ the wig cost (after shipping) $27 ~ so she's a $37 doll with lovely hair. Here's my youtube slide show showing the re wigging process ~ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sN9FVhHF0Xo

Corolle dolls are also excellent quality; they are French-made. While normally not exactly 1/2 the price of AG dolls, they are significantly less expensive. All of them have gravity-close eyes, btw. (That was something that was important to me in a doll for my daughter -- I can't stand dolls that stare when they are supposedly sleeping.)

The standard "older" dolls are 17", an inch shorter than the AG dolls. Corolle also makes "baby" dolls that are suitable for younger children, these are comparable to the Bitty Baby series.

You can buy Corolle dolls via Amazon, and they are often eligible for free shipping.
