gratuities question

Does anyone know if the servers, headserver, room host/hostess still get the gratuities if you forget to give them the gratuity vouchers in the little envelopes? Or will the gratuities revert back to DCL?

If you pay them on your shipboard account then DCL has a record of it and they do get the gratuity.

Can I ask my gratuity question so I don't have to start a new thread?? How does the gratuity work with kids? Do you go with the full recommended amount or do you base it on how many meals they eat in the dining rooms, etc? I don't want to sound cheap because I don't mind paying the recommended amount or more. I was just curious as to the verterans' experiences out there. I haven't seen the question posed before. Thanks!

The recommended amounts are the same for adults and children. Which makes sense to me. From what we've seen of the servers, they do a lot of work to keep the little ones entertained and clean up well after them.

And while we didn't have kids with us, I'm thinking kids mean more stuff in the stateroom for the host to clean around and straighten up.

EXACTLY! That is why I tip MORE than the recommened amount since they have to clean up and entertain my child at dinner!

the recommended but put one troy ounce bar of silver for each as a bonus. I had bought a bunch for H to give his staff at x-mas and had extras.

Thanks for the replies! I'll make sure I have a little something to add to the gratuities that my kids can personally give to some of the staff--including the counselors at the kids' club!
