I really want to try the grapefruit cake and Brown Derby but we don't want to actually eat a meal there. We want to eat at 50's Prime Time.:goodvibes Don't really want to go wait for a table at BD to eat just dessert either. Can I just get a slice of cake "to go" from BD? Has anyone tried? Anywhere else I can snag a piece to go?

From what I've read sometimes Starring Rolls, next door to the BD, has the grapefruit cake available. However, they don't allow it as a snack credit. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I seem to recall, ages ago, some people reporting they were able to do grapefruit cake takeout and others reporting around the same time that they were not. :confused3

But I do think you can ask at Starring Rolls and even if it's not in the display case, they can get it for you. I'd try this first.

The guide books say that if you ask at starring rolls and it's not too busy, they'll go through the kitchen (which it says they share with the Brown Derby) and grab a piece! I plan to try it in December!

I tried it and really did not understand the hype about it - it wasn't bad, but wasn't something I would have been sorry to miss.

I suppose it's something to try if you have the chance because it's so popular, but I wouldn't recommend you go out of your way to try it.

I have gone to Starring Rolls and asked if I could order a slice and have always been accomodated. It is not on the menu and it is not in the case, so they could def refuse. It takes a few minutes as they have to go to HBD to get the cake, so I could see if they were busy they may not do it.

Good luck.

The cake is yummy delicious.

Great info! :thumbsup2 The cake sounds yummy and is one more thing for me to add to the Disney to eat list. :lmao:

I ordered a piece of grapefruit cake at Starring Rolls. As posted, it was not on the menu board and not in the case. The CM had to go into the kitchen that they share with Brown Derby. She came out with a slice in a plastic to-go container. Same price as other cake slices. Don't know about charging as a snack credit.

Keep in mind, Starring Rolls closes before dinner. wdwinfo.com lists it as closing at 4 pm.

I also thought the cake was very average, and they charged us a lot more than a cake slice from their case. This was also in December, so it must depend on who the counter service person is at the time. I can't remember the exact cost now, and the person did make a special trip to get us the cake, so we just paid it. We should have asked the price first, so really, it was our fault.
