Has anyone been, what is it like? What else to do in the area?

My dad wants to drive over and check it out. We could make the drive in a day, but we will need a hotel also. So tell me about St. Louis, the good, the avoidable, etc. What else should we do there? We would probley make it a longer weekend type of a trip, spending 2 days in the area or 3?

Grant's Farm is nice. You start off on a tram ride that takes you through the grounds and you can see lots of different animals: bison, deer, zebras. Then it drops you off at the Biergarten. There's an area here where you can feed goats which is cute and fun but they can get aggressive. There are a few other animal exhibits and a cute animal show. Then you can stop for lunch (not the greatest food) and free Busch samples. There are also some stables and a carriage house. You can also get a glimpse of the Busch family estate. Then when you're ready you can take the tram back to the entrance. It's free to get in, but maybe $6-7 for parking.

As far as other things in STL, there's the zoo which is free and fabulous, the Arch, the City Museum, the science center. Will you have kids with you? We also have a great art museum and history museum. You could ride boats in Forest Park (where the zoo, art and history museum are).

Hi! I have lived in the Saint Louis area all of my life. Have been going to Grants Farm at least once per year since I was a kid. Grants Farm is a fun place First you get on a tram and ride thru the park area and see animals. The tram lets you off in an area with more animals to view, goats to feed. Beware of the goats if you have little ones. They jump and make lots of kids cry. Once you get thru that area, you can head over to the beer garden area. 21 and over gets 2 complimentary drinks. They also have food to buy. Our zoo is also nice and is free to get in. Grants Farm is free also. You just have to pay to park. What type of things do you like to do? Are you interested in the arch or seeing a Cardinals game? If you choose to stay downtown, I would check Trip Advisor for hotels. Downtown St. Louis has a lot of seedy areas. We have stayed at the Drury Inn right near the ballpark, and that is a nice, safe place. I would be glad to help with any more questions

Thanks guys, the trip will be mostly for DD who is 6. We might do the brewery tour if there is time. The zoo sounds good, we are all about anything that might be free.

There are certain areas at the zoo that do charge admission to get in, but nothing you can't do without, if need be. The main portion of the zoo is free and very nice Hope you enjoy your time here
