 Day 1 – DLRP Jan 2007 Part 1

We set off for the airport at 7.30am and after a smooth check in and slightly delayed flight arrived in Paris. As with our previous experience an RS transport representative was there holding a card with my name on it. I was relieved that all my planning had paid off we were on the last part of our journey and nearly at DLRP !!!!!.
We got into the taxi after a last minute dash to toilet with Jess (who had been and didn’t need 5 minutes earlier :confused3 ). I was surprised that the person who met us wasn’t the driver but another passenger. Then we took a different route and we found out the story behind it. . Apparently the driver had parked up and come to meet us only to see his taxi being towed away as he’d parked in a restricted zone (new restrictions starting this year ) so he’d called the other driver to come and get us and then we dropped him at the pick up area to pay the fine and pick up the original taxi. (The first of our jinx on the transport !;) ).

We arrived at the Marriot and after a quick unpack and ‘ooh and ahh’ by the Grannie’s we set of for the park on the next shuttle to the parks.

We purchased temp annual passes at the gates for the Grannie’s and entered the park.

The Christmas theming was wonderful to see and right in the middle of town square was Santa:santa: in a sleigh. Jessica was delighted so we waited in the queue to meet him. A little longer than we thought as he had to be ‘exchanged’ during our wait. After multiple piccies were taken by the Grannies we headed of to Plaza Gardens to meet Marco and Laura for our tea party.

Jess was a bit wary of the first few characters who visited our table and wouldn’t eat a thing (unheard of given the amount of sweet choices). I began to get a little worried as she’d been sick on the plane. I assumed excitement had caused this but was now worried she had a bug. But I needn’t have worried as soon as the next batch of characters appeared she blossomed into her old self and had some great interaction with Goofy, Pluto, Tigger , Eeyore and the Cat from Pinocchio. She got loads of attention as she was one of the only children to stay at her table and not follow the characters around.

All too soon it was time to leave. Our next stop was the annual passport office where we spotted the new sponsorship deal. It was a shame we were a few days too early. There was a huge queue and we were allocated a name and number to wait. We were Cendrillion 18 and they were on the previous name Winnie and only number 8 when we arrived. It was a long wait . The Grannies and Jess watched some Finding Nemo and Laura , Marco and I chatted outside whilst we waited. I popped in now and then to check status.

Once we had the new passports in hand it was time for the parade (1730) and the rain (which always seemed to come together). Laura found us a good spot near the castle stage and Marco kindly missed the parade and took our reservation form to the Newport Bay to get out tickets and queue for the Tinkerbell show we were all going to that evening.

The parade was beautiful. I’m still humming chante C’est Noel. After it had passed we skipped through the arcade nearest Plaza Gardens (Liberty?) and watched it again at the end. At this point a very rude man carrying a toddler pushed so ferociously through the crowd that he bashed Jessica’s face :headache: against the buggy next to us. I was very cross.
It was then out of the park and a walk up(well a shoulder carry for Jess who’s little legs were tired) to the Newport Bay for our evening show.

Great start.
I bet the driver will not make that mistake about the restricted zone again ;)

Glad to hear that Jess enjoyed the characters :goodvibes

sounds like a good first day apart from poor Jessica being bashed. :sad2:

Great start. Seems like you had a nice first day beside the buggy attack.
So looking forward to the rest and your piccies! :goodvibes
