Having enjoyed reading so many trip reports I decided to do one of my own.....hope it's okay.

We are

me - (grandma)
hubby - (grandad)
son
daugh IL
grandaughter aged 6 (G6)
grandaughter aged 2 (GD2)

our first trip to WDW was in 1989 - with our 2 other children aged - at that time 6 and 16 eldest son didn't come with us - he was 19 at the time and had a girlfriend, and had just started a job after A levels etc..

we went again in 1990 we loved it so much - again 2 youngest came with us - eldest went off to Majorca with his girlfriend

went again in 1993 - this time with youngest and other family members ie. auntie and uncle and 3 cousins

we had a long gap then and saw more of the world but knew we wanted to go back one day

2003 our youngest went off to WDW as a cast member to work at Rose & Crown - hubby and I went out to see him - stayed at WDW 'all stars' previously we'd stayed off site

by this time our eldest was married with one daughter and another planned - he still hadn't been

2005 son and DIL decided the time was right to go to WDW, whilst GD6 is still young enough for the magic and GD2 is young enough to be free. Said they'd like us to go as well - ie. hubby and I - to help with the youngsters and share our knowledge since we've been before................they wouldn't have been able to keep us away!!!!!!!

I had probs getting leave - we'd decided on Easter so that it fits with school hols - nearly - but eventually managed to get 18 days, confirmed last November..by this time we found it virtually impossible to get direct flights at a reasonable cost - eventually opted for flights via Amsterdam from Leeds Bradford, since we're Yorkshire folks it should be convenient...tickets arrived the other day, couple of problems, all of which are ironed out apart from one, our stop at Amsterdam on the way home has streched from 2 hours to over 6 - nothing we can do about it so we have upgraded the flight from Orlando to Amsterdam, if it's going to be long it may as well be as comfy as possible.

I am so thrilled that my son is at last going to get his trip to WDW, he's 36 now but he'll love it, especially having his 3 favourite girls to watch (ie his wife and 2 daughters) none of them have been before !!!

When we booked they said that they wanted to do 'everything' - but we have got 14 day WDW tickets - having the GD2 along we don't want it to be too hard and just doing WDW and the odd Orlando attraction will probably be enough.

Son & DIL aren't really into planning but I realise that some is necessary since we're going at Easter, so I have discreetly made a few ADRs for character meals, they say they'll leave it to me.....we've also made a ADR for son & DIL to have a special night at V & A whilst we babysit....

We are staying in a villa at Windsor Palms...with a pool.....and there is only 8 sleeps to go.

On a personal note .. since we booked, last November I have managed to lose about a stone and a half in weight.......nearly at my goal now.......I intend to weigh myself at the airport and then again when I get home....I know that some of it will go back on in Florida but at least it won't be on top of that stone and a half

I will make notes when I am out there and hope to do trip report when Icome back...........I would never have thought about it but I really have enjoyed reading others.....and have recd so much help from DIS contributors when I have posted queries......

tomorrow night I start a week of night shifts -- and then off we go --
those shifts will drag
