Glen (my eldest son) has got to find a funny/strange fact about granite. Has anyone any ideas please?

Have you tried 'Google Search' engine. Just type in 'Granite' and it will come up with lots of websites related to that topic.

Hope this helps :thumbsup2

someone from Aberdeen, the 'granite' city needs to answer this one

My kitchen has Granite tiles on the floor but I don't know anything "funny" about it - sorry.

I go with the 'Google' search too :thumbsup2

Keep us posted on those facts ;)

Asked DH (thought as a chemist he might know something) and he tells me it's an anagram of Tangier! :confused3

Wikipedia tells me "In the world of sports, curling rocks are traditionally fashioned of granite."

not sure if either is funny or strange! What a funny/strange question!

Its BLOODY expensive.. :rotfl: :rotfl:
oh sorry.. thats actually NOT funny! ;) ;)

Thanks for the help. Yes, it is a funny/strange question, but if we looked on Google he may get similar answers to the other children in the class.Thought this was a good idea to ask our Dis buddies who always come up with the answers. :grouphug:

I might be wrong but I think that granite is one of the few words in the English language that, like orange, has no other word which rhymed with it. There are half rhymes like gannet but no true rhymes

Ok, so I asked my DH who did Geology A level and he tells me that what makes Granite strange is that it is the only rock which is in 2 of the 3 categories as it can be made in 2 different ways. It is both an igneous and metamorphic rock. He thinks that this is what the teacher was getting at. :thumbsup2

I don't know how to make it funny.. But I know it conducts electricity, which could be fun if you connected it up to a current and then gave it to some poor sap to try out. ;)

I'm from the Granite City (Aberdeen) and all that I could think of is that curling stones are made of granite - sorry. :confused3
