Grandparents

Paternal both came from Poland, my dad was the only one of 4 boys born in US. Both had passed before I was born. Do not know how they met.
Maternal was a little interesting. Both were from Bohemia (yes prior to WWI there was a country named Bohemia) and both had been married with children when their spouse passed away. There marriage was arranged thru the Church, they had 2 daughters together. The household had a total of 11 kids, a real his, hers, ours situation.

I don't know the story of how my Paternal grandparents met.

My Maternal grandparents met on a double date, but they were with the opposite people. After the date, my Papa liked my Grandma more than the girl he was paired up with and asked her out.

Paternal: My grandpa of moderate means enlisted in the army. Grandma was a wealthy society girl in the next big town over. Grandpa, always a man of grand gestures and brimming with confidence, made it his mission to woo her and win her. And he did, despite everyone on both sides constantly saying she was too good for him. They had a long and happy marriage until his death.

Maternal: They met at a church conference in Georgia. Grandma lived in Georgia, Grandpa in Florida. She was an orphan, raising a houseful of younger brothers and sisters, and he absolutely fell in love with the entire family. So when she lied about her age by a year to marry him and moved everyone to Florida, there was nobody to object. I only found out about the lying about her age part when she was in her mid-80s, at which point she said, well, if the government wants to take away the pension and Social Security at this late date, I guess they can have it!

I don’t know. My grandparents had all passed away by the time I turned 18. I should ask my Dad about his parents. My Mom passed away and she never talked about how her parents met.

Paternal grandparents, I don't know.

Maternal, they met and quickly married in Las Vegas. My grandfather was from Tennessee but was in the service. I am not sure if he was stationed there or what, but I think so. My grandmother was from Minnesota and was in Las Vegas working as a telephone operator. This was in the 1940s. They went on a blind double date but were not paired up with each other. But they fell in love and married 2 weeks later. I do believe they married in 1946, I think 1996 was when they had their 50th party. My grandfather died in 2004 and grandmother in 2015.

I don't know, and really should ask my dad and my uncle if there are good stories there.
