Grandma gets put on wrong flight

Pretty sad, bad but why is Grandma traveling alone? I failed to see this
in the article. Even I would be very careful traveling alone..which I
never have done on a plane. Not that I disagree with anyone traveling alone except
for defenseless people who can't speak up for themselves while doing so. The family should hold some responsibility here. Many things
can happen in today's environment. To just claim victimization is disingenuous in today's world everyone has to be cautious.

No way am I just going to hand over my grandma just like that....

Grandma might be 80 and not speak English, but if she cannot even notice that the name on the boarding pass isn't hers, she shouldn't be flying alone. Did the family pay extra for her like you would for an unaccompanied minor? Because that is essentially what she was. If they didn't pay the extra to have someone looking after her, then the family is at fault.

I can't tell you the number of times I was standing in the jetway to board or on the plane when people realized they were on the wrong plane.

The article was very short in details. Didn't the FAMILY notice she had the wrong boarding pass? How did she get through TSA with the wrong boarding pass (name wouldn't match up with ID).

Who was escorting her to and on the correct plane? I'm guessing grandma didn't wheel herself to the wrong plane. I think there's more to this story.

I agree. No way should this woman have been traveling alone! Delta made a mistake issuing the boarding pass, TSA let her through security and for the life of me I don't know how that happened b/c they sure do check ID and boarding pass thoroughly whenever I've gone through. None of that should have happened for sure. However, how could you let your 80 year old non English speaking granny fly alone???

I was issued someone else's boarding pass one time, but noticed it b/4 I got to TSA and went back to get it taken care of. I know it happens occasionally. But the real problem to me is that this woman was not able to check things such as this and therefore, should have had someone with her. I assume she was taken to the airport by family and was helped with the check-in process by a loved one. Seems they should have caught the error.

Sorry it had to happen since I'm sure it was frightening for that poor woman. Hopefully her family will be more careful. As for the airlines and TSA, they are human and not infallible. They are compensating the family, so hopefully no lawsuit is in the offing. Hopefully.

I can't tell you the number of times I was standing in the jetway to board or on the plane when people realized they were on the wrong plane.

The last time I flew the lady sitting next to me almost ended up in the wrong city. We were all boarded and ready to go and I started talking to the people across from me about the city we were flying into when the lady next to me said "Isn't this plane going to Little Rock?" Ummmm....no, not even close.

She had gotten on the wrong plane and the seat number that corresponded to the ticket she did have was open on our plane so noone kicked her out of the seat or anything. If she wouldn't have heard us talking she could have ended up in the wrong place.
