Has anyone stayed at both of these types of rooms? Is the Grand Villa worth all the extra points it takes to get? Do these villas require 11mths advance bookings?

We noticed you can book 2, 2 bedroom villas for a lot less then a GV. But, thought it would be nice to have everyone in one place.

We will have enough points to book two nights in a GV but will need to rent points for the remaining nights. Is it worth it?!

We know the difference between the two; GV and Treehouse, but just thought we would ask.

We have 2 nieces that will be performing in the parade at MK next May. The school does not know exactly when just yet, probably wont until after school starts in Aug. Our home resort is SSR, what are the chances we can get a GV in May, if booking in Aug?

Thanks,
Jenny

The THV are very hard to get; I booked ours at MS opening on the 11 month mark exactly and got the last one available (this was for May 2010). There have been posts here about failed waitlists.

The THV have 3 bedrooms but are the same size as SSR 2 bedrooms. We felt pretty cramped as the bedrooms and the living area are small and there are only 2 bathrooms.

Cannot answer about the grand villas.

We have stayed in a GV once and it was alot of fun, but not sure if I'd do it if I had to rent points for most of the stay. Can you house the group in two 2 bedrooms on your points?? We have done that too with friends, had two villas and asked to be as close as possible. They got us on the same floor two doors down from each other so that was cool and worked out well and was less points than that GV!!

Also just wondering since you mention your nieces, were you planning on them being a part of your guests? My DD is performing next June in the parade and her group is being placed in All-Star Music together. Even though we are DVC we're going to do the All-Star thing b/c she'll want to be close by all her friends.

Sometimes the rooms are part of the package they pay so they may not be able to be anywhere else but where the group is staying.

Thanks for the feedback on the THV. Interesting that it was small.... does give us something to think about.

Thanks for the reply! Congrats on your DD performing! Did you guys find out the date yet? Are there several schools in the parade? My sister inlaw says they wont know for sure until school starts again, but I'm thinking... can't you just call the band director and ask?! :confused3
Yes, we are aware they will be staying with the rest of their group in a different hotel. The rest of the family will stay with us and then the girls will join after their group leaves.

I think getting 2, 2 bed rooms will be good enough. Plus it will give each family time away from each other... :drinking1

Yes, we know our date and we're going in June! Perhaps their band director has not finalized plans though and will work on everything this summer. That's a shame you don't know for your own planning. I think it would be worth a call to the band director, they may know the dates but just hasn't finalized "travel papers" etc.. so hasn't come out officially. I know this was the case with our group. We heard to tentative dates and then I talked to the director who confirmed the dates, but hadn't had the "official" meeting yet to announce it. We just had the official announcement with papers etc. right at the end of school.

Usually there are several schools marching on the same day. So I can also see the case where maybe their school has not finalized plans as Disney does allow more than one band a day.

Hope you find out soon though for your own planning!!!

Yes, I think two villas would be great, you'll have plenty of time together, you may be glad for time apart!! :)

might go with OKW - since you may have to do it after 7 months.

OKW is cheaper point wise for the GV. would definitely try OKW first.

Sounds good to me! I think that giving a family some privacy in their own villa is really a good idea.
