We are planning a trip next fall and mulling over resorts.
We stayed in an OKW Grand Villa in 1/03 and are pretty sure the 3rd bedroom had 2 double beds instead of 2 queens like the second bedroom. We called to ask for information today to be sure we had enough points, etc to make the reservation for next fall when we can- and MS tells us that all of the grand villas' 2nd and 3rd bedrooms all have queen beds, not full sized beds (We are a group of 11 traveling, and were needing the queen sized beds, not doubles.). Now, I know AKV and BWV do- but OKW and SSR do too? :confused3 Can someone verify this for me?

And if you have stayed in a Grand Villa - would you recommend it?
Why or why not?
Do you have a favorite Grand Villa if you have stayed in more then one?

:goodvibes TIA! :goodvibes

OKW GVs have one king in the master, one queen pullout in the living room, 2 queens in one upstairs bedroom, and 2 double beds in the other upstairs bedroom.

Oops, forgot to tell you about the GVs!! We have stayed in the OKW GVs several times, and while they have a LOT of space there is actually one thing about them I don't care for. It's the arrangement of the kitchen. The kitchen seems to be smaller than the 1 and 2 bedroom villas at OKW. On top of that, the sink is stuck right up against the corner of the cabinets at right angles to the stove, and it makes it VERY inconvenient to work in the kitchen with more than one person. The dining room is huge though, and easily accommodates 8-10. We had 12 once, and we used the chairs from the patio table in the dining room too. Also, the GV has a wicker table and 4 chairs in the living room as a game set, and we often put a couple of people there too. The laundry room seems to be even bigger than the ones in the 1-2 bedroom units, and we used it constantly for storage etc.

The thing that is surprising is the size of the master. It is actually SIGNIFICANTLY larger than the 1-2 bedroom master. On the other hand, I prefer the master bath in the 1-2 bedroom units over the GV master bath. There is also a really cute 3/4 bath in the downstairs hall (for those living room guests) that has some of the cutest tile fitting the OKW theme!

2 double beds in the other upstairs bedroom.
I thought so! Thanks so much! Don't know why MS said they had 4 queens?

We are a group of 11 and will surely all fit, just would be more comfortable if everyone had at least a queen bed to share and not doubles. Basically we are 2 families (one of 4 and another of 5) plus Grandma and Grandpa. Grandma & Grandpa would get the master, of course, and trying to fit four on 2 double beds might be tough. We are going to try to avoid the livingroom pull out if possible to be able to have those come and go at night if need be without waking those sleeping on that couch or the same for those early risers as well.

I don't forsee us using the kitchen too much other then for breakfast. We have stayed there before and between breakfast and reheating leftovers for lunch, etc we barely used the kitchen. We are talking about adding the dining plan as well, so kitchen issues isn't a big deal.

The 2nd and 3rd bd have queen sized beds in all villas we stayed in. AKV had huge living area with pool table too! Master bath was enormous. OKW was very large too. We had no problem with kitchen set up. Check out the 360 pictures on the website. SS has a small living room for a large group. If you can get the GV at AKV in Jambo you'll be thrilled.

If the third and fourth in one family are children who are old enough you might use air beds in the laundry room and the adults would each have a double bed.

The GV I had in OKW had queens in both upstairs rooms.

On that trip, we had 10 adults only - several couples and some single females and all were comfortable - except for those affected by the snorer.... :rotfl: I was downstairs in my nice cozy king, so I didn't hear a thing!

We stayed in an OKW GV in Oct. 06. One upstairs bdrm had two queens and the other had two doubles. There were twelve of us and we all had plenty of room. We were there for five days and really enjoyed it. I would not hesitate to stay in the OKW GV again.

Group of 11?
:scared1: :scared1:
Doesn't sound like a vacation to me!
;)

I think a group of 11 sounds fabulous! The one thing I am secretly, achingly jealous of is all of the large families that come to Disney to vacation together.

We'll never have that in our family - yep no grandparents for the girls to play with, no real vacations with cousins. My spouse and I each have 1 sibling, and only 1 of those has kids that we never see. All but one of our parents have passed from cancer or heart disease or something and the remaining one cannont travel due to illness. The likelihood of actually traveling to Disney with anyone other than friends or our immediate family is very small.

We try to make up for it by always travelling with another family, but it's just not the same. Definitely treasure those moments - even if you want to kill your family. The grass is definitely greener!

We have stayed in the SSR Grand Villa a few times. We go with a party of 13 (one is a baby.) The beds in the 2nd & 3rd were Queen. It is so fun to stay there with a large group. We usually do this when we're not hitting the parks every day. It is very hard to get that large a group to agree on what to do at the parks.

We'd love to stay at the GV's at OKW, BWV, or AKV. We have stayed at the GV at HHI and love, love, love it.

:lmao:
Thanks everyone!
What I tihnk we'll definately do is book the GV in October when we can and then try for the AKL GV, but if we don't request an OKW Villa with 4 queen beds.

There are 2 grandparents, my SIL and her family (BIL and their 2 DDs who will be 9 and 6) and our family- DH, DDs who'll be 9 and turning 7 on the trip plus our son who will be 2. Crazy, but I think everyone understand that we cannot possibly be together all of the time, maybe meals, but park touring will be too hard. We'll try maybe the Family Magic Tour and the Grand Gathering Fireworks Cruise looks neat too.

You can request it, but I can guarantee you the OKW GVs only have 2 double beds on the 3rd bedroom. I suspect the MS person you spoke to hasn't read the information from OKW, much less actually been inside a GV.

Here is the quote from the member's site on the OKW GV:
Three-Bedroom Grand Villa (two-level; sleeps 12)
grandvilla_new.jpg

Master suite with king-size bed and whirlpool tub
Two additional bedrooms, one with two queen-size beds and private bath, and one with two double-size beds and a private bath.
Queen-size sleeper sofa in living room
TV/DVD
Dining room
Fully-equipped kitchen
washer/dryer
Private balcony on each level

Of course, evem the web site has it wrong, because the only balcony on the second level is the one that overlooks the livning room, and that is NOT private.

Diane is correct. We have stayed in two OKW GV's so far and the third bedroom had only doubles both times. We were fine with this both times because only two adults were staying in that room both times. But my DBIL did have his feet hainging over the edge of the bed a bit. But then he is 6'6" and he said that happens a lot. The room is quite a bit smaller too compared to the second bedroom with the queens.

I assumed MS was wrong, but 3 posters here said the 2nd & 3rd bedrooms had queens too?
We stayed in one 1/03 and the 3rd bedroom had doubles and the 2nd had queens.

Also keep in mind that the entry to the GV in OKW is on the second floor and I believe that only two buildings have elevators. I point this out because you said you are traveling with grandparents.
