hey everyone,

i am going back and forth with my wife on this one and i was looking for some feedback.

planning starts early in my family and we are looking at going to BLT in June 2012.

we have 160 points at BLT feb use year and with banking and borrowing we expect to have 479 points avail at 11 month window. (one point was used)

we have 285 points at BCV feb use year and with banking and borrowing we expect to have 814 points avail at 7 month window. (46 points were used)

we are going with 8 adults, 2- 14 year old sons, 5 year old daughter and 2 year old daughter.

my wife thinks we should book the grand villa, but i think its too small (sleeping wise 4 queen beds, queen sleeper sofa and 1 king) and the points would be 1235 (mk view)

i think we should book a 2 bedroom and 2 studios (now with all queen beds in the bedrooms, except the master room we should have 6 queen beds, queen sleeper sofa and 1 king) and the points would be 964 (mk view)

our plan would be to use our 11 month window to book some nights on the front and back end of the vacation and then book the middle during the 7 month window.

which would you choose grand villa or three rooms?

From a pure points perspective, we've always done 1-2BR and 2-Studios. We've always wanted to get a GV, but then there's the banking and borrowing and the not going for 3 years...

Are you eating meals in or not? If you are, then it's going to be difficult to squeeze everyone into that 2 bedroom to eat together.

If not, I like my space. When we go with a large group, we get separate villas. We spend enough time together during the day that we are all very happy to have a separate space at the end of the day.

Also, I would book at both home resorts at 11 months just to make sure that you get rooms for everyone. Then I'd try switching it up at the 7 month mark.

First, I'd book all I can at the 11 month window. I don't understand why you are leaving a gap. What if you can't get those days? Is this a multi family trip? You might want to be able to spread out and have time away from each other.
The GV's are great, and we have stayed in them a few times. There is so much space for everyone to gather. But we have always gotten a studio or two to go along with them eventhough our group ranges from 10 to 12 people. Depending on who the adults are, will you plan on having two couples share a bedroom!!!!

We have had a 2 bd at BLT and a studio for a group of 10 and were comfortable gathering in the 2bd. I think we only shared 1 meal there, pizza, I think. The room was an even number so it was the larger type.

If you can swing a GV at BLT even for a few nights, you'll love it. Might need a studio too.

We stayed last year in a GV for a 9 night stay and it was absolutely beautiful. There was a lot of room, but I felt we could have all used some seperate space. We had 11 people. Myself,dh, our 6 children, 2 boyfriends and 1 cousin. It was a great experience, but I don't think we would do it again.
