We will be staying at the Polynesian on the Grand Plan this summer. We did NOT make reservations for a concierge room. Are there any advantages in upgrading to concierge when you are on the Grand Plan?

Thanks,
Cord

With concierge you get food offerings throughout the day, a private building, help with PS's and a lounge where you can watch the fireworks. The advantage to concierge (in my opinion) is the food choices throughout the day. But if you're on the Grand Plan, everything you want is already paid for. Are you willing to pay more for some minor perks? As far as making PS's, the concierge staff is supposed to help you with that, but I've heard that Polynesian's staff can be hit or miss with helpfulness. I guess if you don't mind spending the extra $$$ for the perks, then why not go all out? But even if you have a lagoon view room booked (which I'd book before I'd go concierge) then I definitely think you'd be fine without concierge. JMHO.

When you are on the Grand Plan...concierge is a part of the perks...or it was when we did it over at the Boardwalk.

And concierge was part of the Grand Plan for me too, when we stayed at the GF, AKL and Poly..

Is it worth it to upgrade to concierge? Maybe. Maybe not. That's a tough call. It depends upon what you really want out of your vacation experience. For one of my Grand Plans, I wanted access to the concierge lounge so that my guests had somewhere to relax after a busy day in the parks. That was the only advantage that I saw with reserving a concierge room while on the Grand Plan.

From my past experiences with the Grand Plan and Walt Disney World, nothing is guaranteed -- everything is subject to change without prior notice. You have been warned!

With my first Grand Plan, I paid for a concierge room at the Grand Floridian, then I paid for the Grand Plan on top of that. Since I was paying for concierge, I got it. For my next Grand Plan, I paid for a two-bedroom suite at the Grand Floridian, then I paid for the Grand Plan on top of that. With the suite, since it was located in Conch Key, I would NOT get access to the concierge lounge. The Grand Floridian Grand Plan folks stressed that to me over & over again before I arrived for vacation. I told them that I wanted main building since I wanted access to the concierge lounge, but there was nothing they could do for me (they told me my party was too large for the suites in the main building). Fast forward a few years. I booked another two-bedroom suite at the Grand Floridian but decided not to add the Grand Plan to it. They told me that no matter where my suite was located, I WOULD have access to both of the Grand Floridian’s concierge lounges. I found that too funny. In the past, I had the suite and the Grand Plan and was not given concierge access. In the present, I had the suite and no Grand Plan and was given concierge access. So, as you can see, anything is possible at WDW.

Lately it seems that you get access to the concierge lounge if you have a Grand Plan vacation booked. But, as we all know, everything is subject to change without prior notice. The moral of the story? If you want concierge access, book a concierge room right from the start. That way you won't be disappointed since you’ll get exactly what you are paying for.
