Grand Gatherings

Hi! New to the boards so apologize if this is not the right forum for this:

Is there a forum set-up just for Grand Gatherings? I am going to WDW in late August with 9 other people and we're staying at Pop Century so we qualify for group treatment. We are already signed-up for the special buffet before IllumiNations and for the Grand Safari Celebration.

My curiosity is about any special perks Disney might do for Grand Gathering participants, such as better room assignment (even w/non-preferred room type), dining plan freebies, etc.

don't expect a lot in the way of upgrades. there is not a section of the boards just for GG.. but if you search wdwinfo.com, you will find a lot of info on grand gatherings.

There really aren't any freebie or upgrade "perks". You most likely won't be upgraded and I think the only "freebie" I have seen is that they used to have a Grand Gathering button--not sure if they still do. A Grand Gathering is just a way to tie your reservations together and take advantatge of the special paid opportunities, and to make it easier to get your dining reservations for large groups. Be aware that just because you are on a Grand Gathering doesn't mean your rooms will be directly next to one another. I have done several and our rooms have never all been right next to one another. Often there were one or more rooms between us, and others have reported that as well.

Go to Disney and have fun and enjoy your Illuminations buffet, and your Safari Celebration and all the other things Disney has to offer. That is all magical enough for a large group!

Your main perk is better phone support and the ability to make and change ressies on behalf of the group... If you should happen talk with non-GG Cast Members and ask 'difficult' questions (due to the nature of the large groups), too often you will get an answer that is incomplete (or sometimes simply wrong).
