Grand Gatherings with Strangers??

I want to do one of the special safari's SO BAD! I can't afford to stay concerige level to qualify! The safari Grand Gathering costs a much nicer $240 for family of four vs the $500+ it would cost to stay in the AKL (just that night) at conceirge level and then buy the sunrise or sunset tickets).

I'm wondering if I could meet a lovely family of four (on a lovely board, say, like this) staying the same time we are and sign up for the safari GG together?? Does this happen???
