Grand Gatherings - book how far in advance?

How far in advance can you book grand gatherings? Anyone recommend any of the choices? Family may crash my trip and I'd love to look some fun things for all of us!

We did the Safari Celebration Dinner at AK in April. It was great! There was a longer than normal safari ride where the driver would stop so you could take pics and ask questions. Then there was a great dinner at Tusker House. They had music, live animals, and characters after dinner. We all loved it.

I wanted to do the fireworks cruise, but a couple of people in our group weren't into fireworks, so that didn't work out for us. If we ever do a GG again, I hope we can do the cruise.

I would suggest booking as early as possible. I booked the safari dinner 180 days in advance. I was glad that I booked far in advance because it was fully booked a few months before we went.

I believe you can book a grand gathering 180 days in advance the same as the rest but before you do you will actually have to have a grand gatherings number so you will need to know in advance if your relatives will actually be crashing you vacation. Also depending on when you are going, certain ones will not be operating. We are going at the end of september and the Illuminations will not be running because of the food and wine festival. We have booked the Magical Voyage so we will meet hook and smee and peter pan as well as go for a boat ride and see the water parade and the fireworks over magic Kingdom. I can let you know how it goes if your vacation is later than early October.
