grand gathering events

My entire extended family, including several first-timers will be at WDW the week prior to Christmas, arriving 12/17, departing 12/24. We are very excited!! My sister is doingthe fireworks voyage for everyone as their Christmas gift. I was going to book the International buffet and Illuminations activity or the safari activity at the AK. Does anyone have any feedback on either of these activities?? Thanks!!

I have done both events. I liked the international dinner at Epcot much better. They had a DJ for the music and and a little show. The dinner was a buffet and was very good.

The Animal Kingdom safari part was good but we felt very rushed at the dinner part. I was more of a family style service but seemed to have trouble getting CM's to bring more of the food we liked.

Thank you so much! I was really anxious to talk with someone who had done it! I think we will do the Candlelight Processional at 5:15, then do the grand gathering activity with the buffet and Illuminations (which is my favorite Disney activity!!). Was the dinner really good? Did they have lots of variety? We have one vegetarian and several younger kids, as well as some teenagers and college students.
