I know they have a few special activities/meals that you can book for parties of 8 or more. Has anyone done these? particularly the Illuminations dinner at EPCOT and the Fireworks Voyage... I am torn between these 2 as a suprise for the family. How was your experience? how was the food, DIsney characters?

I would like to know too. Anything else about grand gatherings.

My family and my two sisters and spouses with kids are going. We will be 11 total.

We have done the fireworks cruise several times and are planning to do it again this summer. This leaves from the dock at the Contemporary. The first time we did it we had the Toll House desserts at on the dock before we set sail.....the next time we had our desserts indoor at the Contemp. Capt. Hook and Mr. Smee were in attendance. On the way out on the boat "Patch" the pirate sings songs and plays Disney trivia. Also you get to see the Water Pagent. Once Wishes is about to begin stop for a perfect view of the fireworks right over the castle. I have to say it is spectacular!!! On the way back Patch tells the story of Peter Pan and he is waiting at the dock when you pull back in. In my opinion this is one of the best things that we have ever done.

Illumination Event: When we attended about 3 years back the dinner was just ok....same with the entertainment during the dinner. The dessert on the showcase was excellent and viewing area was great. Overall it is not something that we have choosen to do again.

Good Morning Gathering at Tony's on Main St:

Not sure they still do this.....but no worries we would never do this again. Poorly organized and too many people jammed in one place. Food was just ok.

Hope this helps!!!:cutie:

Thank You - it does - I was really leaning toward the Fireworks Voyage so I am glad to hear it was a good time. Was Capt Hook & Mr Smee there each time you have gone?

I know you didn't ask, but I have to put my two cents in about the Grand Gathering Safari. We LOVED it! We had two kids, a 3 year old and an 11 year old. We did the Safari and then a dinner with characters/dancing and animals for the kids. The food was very good, all very well done. It was great to walk through the park when it was closed and empty!
We're debating between doing this over and going to the Epcot Illuminations one this year.
