Does anyone have any tips or advice for staying at the Grand floridian Villas for the first time??? Getting around, where to park, floors or areas to request, things to be on the lookout for, dislikes about the villas, likes. Thanks for all of your opinions.

The resort is surprisingly small so there isn't much to know. Your room location with view is based on which side of the building you are on.

Do you have any specific questions?

yeah, not much to say...

you'll turn into the GF resort, tell the gate security that you have a villas reservation and then take an immediate right into the villas parking area.

you'll probably find that it's a long walk to the boat to the MK and just stick with the monorail. OTOH, since the GF is the last stop on the way back around from the MK, you might prefer to take the boat back to the GF regardless.

i don't really think there's anything to request unless you prefer a high floor or low floor for personal reasons.

it's a beautiful resort. the tv in the bathroom mirror still strikes me as a little silly, but the villas are nice.

enjoy the lobby over at the GF - the band is great.

(if you haven't driven to the GF or poly before, make sure you are in the far right hand lanes when going through the MK parking gates and tell the attendant that you are going to the GF. then take the right fork instead of going toward the MK parking. then follow the signs to the GF.)

Thanks for the information. Does it seem busy in and around the villa's since the area is much smaller??? compared to some of the bigger DVC resorts? for example the Wilderness lodge villa's tend to be pretty quiet.... Is there a shop in the villas for smaller items? Has it made the trasnportation much more crowded over at the grand floridian??? Also the common areas??? Lobby, pool etc..... does it seem more crowded?

It is very quiet, quite similar to VWL.

No, all the shops are at the main hotel, just like it is at VWL.

No and no, VGF is a small resort, the larger GF can easily absorb the extra guests. I didn't think it was that far of a walk to the ferry dock, maybe a 5 brisk minute walk. During the holidays GF is more crowded because of people coming by to see the gingerbread house, but other than that it was the same as before VGF opened.

I agree with DenLo, VGF is a very quiet building, the GF has more activity but it is so large, it isn't an issue.

Lower points and a better chance of seeing fireworks from your room. The pool near the Villas is better in my mind. My kids played on the Mad Hater pools for hours...in fact that is where they wanted to go back to when we stayed at BLT.

Also sometimes it is faster to get a water taxi from the Poly. The walk is about the same. Again the monorail is a quick walk.

We loved it...we stayed there 4 months after it opened and it's the gold standard for DVCs IMO
