janine, if you dont mind me asking, how come you were an intimate but had a reception at the AA in epcot?
Basically we had everything booked for a dinner party at the GF outside close to the summerhouse. I was told that even though I was an intimate I could have a dinner party there if I did the leg work myself, and not through my EM.
So I did this, I booked the dinner, floral, lighting, characters, entertainment, music, the whole LOT! We were very happy with our decision as we could still watch wishes too.
Then on 21st December (7 weeks before we were due to fly out for our fairytale wedding, where dreams come true) I got a phone call from a manager at the GF to say they had cancelled the whole lot as intimates should not have a tailored reception, only custom brides.
Even if I didn't wear my dress, and called it a boirthday party as my wedding day coincided with my birthday, they still wouldn't allow it as it was in their eyes my wedding day, and it just wasnt allowed.
I was furious with them as I had been allowed to book it all. Also that same day my DH had just had 6 hours of major kidney surgery, so I was really not in the mood to be told that.
I made a complaint to the head of the DFTW dept, and basically due to the nature and the small amount of time I had to re-book and also look after my sick Husband to be they gave me a few options, and the AA parlor was one.
They would never do this normally and I am eternally grateful to them for the way they put it all together for me. I was emotionally exhausted with the whole thing and was within hours of cancelling the whole lot.
Dinsey have some mad crazy policies, which doesnt make sense sometimes. You would think they would rake in as much money as possible if people were keen to spend more money than usual on an intimate wedding, but no.
They are the best entertainers in the world though, and I would do it again in a heartbeat.
