In addition to the construction at the GF, the Spa is set to close indefinitely September 19. So for those keeping track, we now have:

1. Construction of DVC outside the Wedding Pavilion
2. Monorail service has been discontinued during EMH
3. Spa closing

More details: http://forums.wdwmagic.com/showthread.php?t=782052

Edit: Some insiders are saying the closure will begin Sept 14 and last 18-20 months during DVC construction. Supposedly the plan is to bus those wishing to have spa treatments to other resorts.

Words cannot explain how pissed I am right now.

And why is the monorail closing during EMH?

Be glad that spa is closing! It's dinky ! I had the most ridiculous experience when I paid >$400 for a "day of beauty" for my 40th bday... Let's just say that being served a "spa lunch" (choose from a variety of big MEAT sammiches!) at a table in the spa gift shop (aka lobby/gym check in area) in my bathrobe was not as relaxing as you might expect! :scared1:

Seriously?! Do they want me to have an ulcer?! I have my bridesmaids scheduled to have their hair and make-up done there the morning of my Oct 7th wedding.

dont panic yet.... they're probably scheduled in the ivy trellis salon which is in the grand floridian main building..... the spa is separate. :thumbsup2

They are scheduled with Niki Bryan Spas. I'm not familiar with where things are at the Grand Floridian. So, I'm not exactly sure where they are scheduled. I just spoke with someone through the Niki Bryan website. I have the number, so I'm calling to verify their appointments.

Whew! Our appts, since they are hair and make-up only are in the Ivy which is not closing. :) It only affects nail, massage, facials, ect..

This is really upsetting. That's the week I'm going to be there for our wedding and I had wanted to schedule a massage for us at the Spa. :headache:

Disney has supposedly revised its stance on the Monorail service since the initial announcement in early July. Currently, Disney's revised policy is to operate the monorails until 11:00 PM. There is a thread about the change on the DVC Mousecellaneous board (see http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2763446).

Yes but evening EMH can extend until 3am- that's still a lot of lost monorail service

Guests of GF and Poly will have a dedicated driver to the Saratoga Springs. Alternately, you could use the Magnolia Spa across from GF at Shades of Green. It's a lovely new spa, and they have a couples room for massages

I had an appointment for a manicure at the GF Spa on 9/26 (the day before my wedding) and I called to see what was up with the Spa closing. I talked to Brent and he told me that they have not called people to reschedule appointments yet because they are trying to coordinate transportation at their own expense. He was really great and called over to the Contemporary and made my replacement appointment for me. Plus it's about 1/2 the price! I love Disney customer service :cheer2:

I'd reschedule at the Saratoga Spa in a heartbeat! The GF spa was so small and cramped - Saratoga may be a little bit more out of the way, but the spa is huge and GORGEOUS! So relaxing. They have lovely couples massage rooms there.
