I'm going to WDW next January and am getting married at the Wedding Pavillion. We've already booked everything to make sure that we got the dates we wanted. Two questions: First, what are the honeymoon suites like at the GF? Does anyone have any pictures of what the suites look like? Secondly, everything has been booked, but the rates have not been established for next year (1/5/03-1/10/03). Since the reservation has been made already, what is the best method to get the best rates possible after the 2003 rates come out. Any light that can be shed on the subject will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

PuterMoc, welcome to the Dis! And congratulations on your upcoming nuptials. Here is a link to a wonderful website that has some of the best GF Honeymoon room pictures around: Our Laughing Place GF Honeymoon Room Photos.

Not all Honeymoon rooms look like what was shown in those photos. Most of the Honeymoon rooms are standard rooms with the exception that they usually have a king-sized bed and a Jacuzzi tub.

Okay, here is a link to some wonderful webpages that are devoted to the Grand Floridian Resort. These webpages are courtesy of the owner of this website -- Dreams Unlimited Travel: Dreams Unlimited Travel's Grand Floridian Resort Information Webpages.

If you look on the left-hand side of that webpage, you will find a link to streaming video that they took at that resort. It should give you a wonderful overview of the Grand Floridian.

Now, I don't know how you booked your honeymoon package, but if you didn't use a travel agent, I would like to suggest to you that you consider transferring your package over to Dreams Unlimited Travel. They will periodically check with Disney to see if any cheaper packages have come out and then apply the new rate to your reservation. I used Dreams over the Christmas/New Year's holidays and they were able to get me an Annual Passholder rate (since I am a passholder) for a few of the resorts that I stayed in. I had never gotten any type of discount on a WDW vacation before. Plus, they were very easy to work with and completely professional. I will definitely be using them again in the future. Here's the link to their website: Dreams Unlimited Travel's Website. This is all my humble opinion.

Since you're having your wedding down there, you should be getting a discount through Fairy Tale Weddings. I'm getting married at the Pavilion in August and I'm staying in a Honeymoon Suite for 14 nights. The discount was HUGE. My advice is to book it now and send down one night's deposit to hold it and then switch it over when you get the discount with Fairy Tale Weddings.

You didn't say what kind of wedding you were having. I'm having a custom wedding, so it might be different for an intimate wedding.

Have fun!

Thanks for all of the input... I can't wait to get down there. I'm having a intimate wedding, do you think that the discounts for the hotel are similar to that for those having a custom wedding??

I don't know much about the intimate wedding, except for what I've read about the "packages." You get 3 or 4 nights included and I think you have to pay to "upgrade" to a suite. I'm not sure, but I seem to remember that's what I read about intimate weddings in the information I was sent before I started the actual planning. Do you get room discounts for your guests? My room was included in that "room block" so I also got the discounted rate. It can't hurt to call and ask!

I had booked the suite originally with DC and the discount was about $50-$100 per night. You could watch for AP rates, too, but I've only seen Sugar Loaf Concierge available, not RPC. But, you never know with Disney, they could surprise you next year!

I'll be sure to give a report when I return in August.

:D

Thanks for the help. About rates, they said they couldn't tell me too much abot what I'll be paying until the 2003 rates come out in June. I'm also a member of the Disney Club, so I may get a discout there, but how much they can't tell me until June. As for my guests, the wedding coordinator said that they can get a 10% discount if they book through her...
