Has Disney released any artist's renderings of how the interior of the new Grand Floridian DVC rooms will look?

Not yet but they will probably be like the other villas but a different color. :goodvibes

I found an artist rendering of the lobby recently! Hopefully the room renderings will be out soon!

man, do I want to stay there...chances of 7mth booking will be 0...at least for the first 5 years:rotfl:

That's what I was thinking too except maybe initially until a lot of folks buy in and make it their home resort the rest of us will have a chance at it. Here's hoping.

That's what was said about BLT, but there were reservations available fairly soon after it opened (for non-owners), as long as they were for off-season times, and not location-specified :goodvibes. IMHO, that may also be true for the GF DVC. :thumbsup2
I, too, am hoping to try out the GF. It's one of the few resorts in which I've never stayed, but have always wanted to. :cheer2:

Keep in mind that as members buy in, more rooms are moved to DVC inventory. When it first opens, there will not be much member inventory, more cash.

That should be true to a degree about every DVC options including 3 BR and the concierge option. The amount of availability will vary with the specifics of the situation.

HUH???? So if Disney owns, say, 10,000 points at any given resort, they reserve 10,000 points of rooms and rent them out cash? Is it like that at every DVC resort? And at what point would they decide to release those rooms for DVC point reservations if they can't rent them for cash?

As points are sold rooms are moved from the cash pool of rooms into the member pool of rooms. When a new resort opens, there are presales plus they project how many points will be sold in the near future so it may start out 25% member/75% cash. Then when more points are sold, the member % increases and the cash % decreases. DVC itself has to maintain about 5% of the total points when the resort is soldout.

When members trade out, for example the Disney Cruise, rooms are moved to the cash pool to pay for the trade.

Any unreserved points rooms can be moved to CRO 60 days prior to the date.

Think of it as separate inventory by Villa. A given Villa is either in OR not in DVC. In order to sell points in a given villa, that villa must be moved into DVC and is thus available for DVC members to reserve using points. The villas not yet moved to DVC are not available on points and can be rented by DVD using cash just like YC, Poly, GF, etc. Points issues do not apply, they are treated just like any other Disney hotel. In addition, DVD could reserve units that are in DVC using the points they own and rent those as well. They are subject to the same rules as every other owner except the commercial renting rule (another discussion). That means that there is often more availability early in the sales process. They could be underhanded and go for the top rental options but this does not appear to be the case. They also take points that have been traded for things like DCL and reserve to rent to recoup the money for those options. They generally don't keep 5% but more in the 2-4% range, mostly for maint but the 2% is likely enough so they often rent some of these as well.

Another item is that Disney may not complete construction on the resort all at once. They will secure wings or floors and complete construction sometimes months or even a year or so after opening. They did this at Kidani and are currently doing this at Aulani. This means less inventory for Disney and the DVC.

Disney will also upgrade cash reservations from other resorts to DVD rooms at DVC resorts.

The rooms don't sit vacant waiting to be sold, they are sometimes well worn by the time DVD sells them. IMO that's what happened to BLT.

And at VB they never completed the resort, reduced the size and sold off the additional land.

Hmmm, kind of looks just like the GF lobby don't ya' think?

Not sure, I've only been in GF once and didn't really pay attention to the lobby because we were late for an ADR!!!! Do you think the site I found that on has it confused and it's actually and old pic from when GF was first built?

I wouldn't be surprised if the lobby design is similiar, just smaller.

Each of the outer buildings at the GF have small lobbies which are similar to that drawing.

Can't wait to see drawings or photos of the villas.:cool1:

Has anyone seen a room breakdown?
Are there going to be Grand Villas?
As small as the resort is going to be, much like the Villas at Wilderness Lodge, I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't do Grand Villas, but then again, there are Grand Villas at the Grand Californian.

I honestly thought they would do something similar to what they did at AKV and dedicate some of the current hotel inventory to DVC especially for studios.

Here is a target audience that I think Disney is missing almost entirely - Honeymoon couples.

Imagine small free standing honeymoon villas with an outdoor hot tub, outdoor shower, and bright open interior with romantic touches.

I think they could easily build them through DVC and rent them via cash, like the Treehouse Villas - but meant for two, but with more space dedicated special touches. Or like the cabins at Ft. Wilderness, BUT with more upscale finishes and secluded outdoor spaces.

I think Disney could make a fortune on that concept!
