Grand Floridian DVC Info, Speculation, and Update Thread - Part 1!

Rode by the construction twice today on the monorail and the dormers appear to be for show only. There are balconies in the dormer rooms at the Grand but the dormers in the construction do not have balconies at this time.

Just found this thread. I posted this on an older thread about GFV and thought I'd repost it here....

For those trying to picture the views in their minds... I made this mockup using Google Earth when the first rumors started about GFV and this basic site plan was floating around the internet. There's a pool right there between the existing resort and the new construction. They might consider all the rooms at that side to be water views, in addition to the ones facing the lagoon. Standard views (parking lot and monorail track) would just be for the rooms at the southwest end. I don't think there could be any theme park views. That's a great panoramic video on youtube, but I think the view of the castle will be blocked at the level of the rooms.

I also think the rooms facing the MK at the north end of the new building will all be grand villas. This is just my guess by looking at the artist's renderings. With those big picture windows, they look like they might have a similar layout to the single-story GVs at AKV Jambo House (shown below).

Great superimposing onto a satellite map. But I got a little confused with the AKV Jambo House GV floorplan at the end your post. Are you speculating on the VGF GV floor plans too?

Excatly. I'm speculating that there will be a stack of GVs at the end facing the MK. They'd be single-story, similar (though probably not identical) to the ones at AKV Jambo House, rather than the many other two-story GVs at other resorts.

Just my guess when I look at the artist renderings. I could be totally off base.

None yet. We were on a DCL Magic cruise two weeks ago and tried real hard to get someone to speculate, but got nothing.

Any new photos from February onwards? Looking forward to seeing what it looks like. We're at WDW in November 2013 and rumours are saying it now won't open till early 2014- I really hope it does open in time for our trip.

Should be much more done by the time I go in July.My daughter says I will be marrying her off on the beach when we watched a march video on You-Tube.I still wish it was at the Poly and not GF.Who knows maybe they still will some day.

Got an update from a reliable source (DVC sales representative), points chart for GF comes out in 9 days and sales start in 13 days.
Hopefully with good news

BLT was way further along be constructed before they started selling. I thought that I read somewhere that Florida Timeshare law requires that a certain percentage of the offering has to be completed before sales can begin.

We were there a week ago and didn't see much activity.

I know there are laws about selling but I've never seen the actual formula. I do know they can't transfer the deed until completion of construction (including cert of occupancy) and a max of 180 days if I read it correctly. I know they did presales at least once but didn't collect any money and I'm guessing the cancelation period was extended as well, I'm thinking that was AKV but am not certain.
