I heard on the theme park board that the GF DVC is being built. If so, when did this happen and where was I?

There are leaked blueprints for a building next to the GF. There was no indication as to what the building is actually for but Disney also made no direct indication about BLT until it was under construction.

Disney hasn't made any official announcements yet but I have heard construction walls recently went up.

This has been part of the master plan for years -- but you won't hear boo about it officially for a while, even if you can actually see the thing going up. They don't want people to hold off buying into BLT because they might be waiting for GF.

Are the walls actually up, because that's what someone on the theme park board said.

so they're probably going to build the GF DVC under "secrecy" like BLT then

It's a public secret. Everyone who cares to know or wants to know will know (and many already do).

The masses who get hooked while taking a DVC tour probably won't.

Exactly!

And because it hasn't been announced to the public or to the "DVC Guides" (salespeople), the Guides don't have to tell prospective buyers that a new DVC section at the GF is coming. In fact, they can't tell prospective buyers about it until it's official. (Of course, the Guides know the rumors too, and know that the rumors are backed up by regulatory filings.)

If this is built do u think as many DVC members will stay at bay lake tower anymore?

this one makes me chuckle...no offense intended.

The concept of DVC is to mathematically predict the maximum number of individual buyers you can statistically handle across all their units - old and new, good and bad - and then sell a couple more on top of that.

There are (guess) probably 150-160,000 individual contracts out there now (its been a few years since i've seen the figure)...and just to give you an idea of how massive the amounts of people that they're trying to cram into the rooms...when i bought my contract, i purchased 2.7% of one unit at Saratoga....which would probably grant me somewhere around 10 nights at Saratoga based on average of the per night room costs....so my stake is one of 37 on that particular room....X10 and that means there could be as many as 370 nights a year that the room could be occupied. That's what we like to call "fuzzy math"

so yeah...contemporary will be quite filled. And my guess (again...a guess) is that the average DVC travel party spends around 3000 or so on each trip in food, rec, crap, and ticket costs (averaged over the year or life of the ticket)...so that's pretty mad scratch.

So the next time somebody posts "I don't know why they build DVC and not a new rollercoaster for the Studios?"...remember ye what i say
