I have been trying (unsuccessfully) daily for a Cali Grill brunch ressie for December 2 - since I was able to at 180.

Wondering what you all think of the Grand Floridian Cafe? We would be eating around 11am and looking for breakfast items such as Benedict’s and mimosas. I did check the lunch menu and saw Benedict’s at least. Any recent experiences here good or bad?

Thinking I will give up on the Cali Grill brunch since it is such a small window of time and so popular. We will head to MK after and I love the Grand Floridian in general so I was thinking this may be a good replacement. Also are park clothes acceptable? Thoughts?

I have never had a meal at the GFC, however it is on my list. This restaurant is so darn pretty! Under your circumstances, I would say that it is worth giving GFC a try.

I plan to bring my Princesses on a trip next year if all goes well, and since they are now "big girls" I plan to take them to "tea" at the GFC in their party dresses. One will be demure and very understated, and the little one will most likely have folks grabbing their sunglasses to avoid the reflections bouncing off of whatever multicolor shiny sequined unicorn fluffy ball of tulle she chooses.

I would have loved to have done the same with my daughter who loved a good tea time. She is 20 now but maybe someday. My husband would not be interested in tea so I’m thinking Benedict’s and mimosas may be the way to go! Have a blast with your littles.

There is no tea there. My girls are still young, so they would have no idea, and I would not tell them!
The afternoon tea offered at the GF would be wasted on them, and me, so I am in the same boat as you. Mimosas and Benedict is the perfect breakfast.

I do hope we can take the kids. They are like my granddaughters, but alas, they are not related, and when you add a divorce that was and still is messy, being a Nana and Pa who are basically adopted fillin's for grands can get sticky. Their Mom would like us to take them next year, but I am not willing to take them without her along under the circumstances. DH and I have suggested she get herself on the plane with us, book a room and then leave the parks and girls to us. She gets a break and we get to enjoy the girls. We will see, but if it happens I hope to book a royal room at POR because I think they will like it, and book some sort of fancy pants meals that let them show off their best party manners.

I wanted to add that my own DD would have hated a tea, however I now have a 16 YO who loves special Nana/Kady things that her mother would have prefered to chew glass and die than to join me at. She was worth waiting for! LOL!

I love the Grand Floridian Cafe! I always have the lobster benedict, but one day I'm going to try the orange cranberry pancakes...at least that's what I keep telling myself. I'll probably just always get the lobster benedict :rotfl:

It's very pretty and a pretty calm environment. Lunch and breakfast share a menu so you will be able to get a brunch like experience.

Have fun and enjoy! (and park clothes are acceptable)

I am one who thinks the Grand Floridian Café is just okay. About what I expected for a fairly casual restaurant that doesn't book up. One breakfast I thought was totally awesome that I wasn't expecting was the Wave at the Contemporary. DD and I just popped in on our last trip and it was one of my favorite meals of the trip. Just another suggestion, hope you have a fantastic trip! :flower1:

I REALLY like this place..is it the best ever? no...but for th slight price over comps in "the world" you get a really nice meal in a lovely setting

GFC is a must do for my family. We have never had a bad meal, very consistent, and service top notch. We go for bfast and dinner; however, last trip we had dinner then walked over to dock and watched fireworks. The combo of dinner and fireworks made for an excellent night!

We loved the gfcafe. The atmosphere, food and staff. You will also get a chance to look at the beautiful decorations. Maybe some photopass photos in front of the tree and the ginger bread house.
