Is the food good at the Grand Floridan Cafe? My husband loves steak my daughter loves pasta and the lobster hamburger looks interesting, any reviews?

My boyfriend and I had lunch there earlier this year. I had the orecchiette pasta of the day, which was excellent but too filling. The pasta came with a red pepper cream sauce the afternoon I had it and I ordered it with shrimp. My only complaint about it was that it was too filling for me; I had to leave a regretful amount behind.

My boyfriend had the Grand Floridian burger, the one with the lobster hollandaise. He told me at the time that it was messy and rather difficult to eat. A couple weeks afterward, when I was writing my trip report, I asked him if he had anything else to add to his assessment of the burger. He said, "only that I want one right now."

They also have a really cute dessert sampler there. For $10, you can get four small bites of tiramisu, chocolate mousse, cheesecake and I think a fruit tart of some kind. The desserts can also be ordered individually. For about $3, we shared a tiramisu and it was the perfect size for just a little taste of something sweet at the end of the meal.

I really enjoyed the Grand Floridian Café and I look forward to going back. We'll be having breakfast there for the first time next week, and I hope we can do lunch there again on a future vacation.

We ate here on a whim, it was pouring rain and I didnt want to go back to Epcot so we called the dining line and GFC was open and since we were staying at the Poly it was easy to get to.

Imagine our suprise when it turned out to be the most incredible meal and service! DH had the NY Strip and it was huge and delish and I had the shrimp pasta that was amazing, sooo loaded with huge tender shrimp

I would def go back

We really enjoyed our lunch at the Grand Floridian Cafe. The rooms were wonderfully decorated, the service quiet but very professional. It reminds me of old times when we would dine downtown at one of the old-style, great restaurants.

I had the lobster hamburger. It was very interesting. And it was delicious. Only thing, I cut it with knife and fork, I didn't really consider picking it up with my hands. DD had the Tuna Nicoise Salad, which she pronounced very fresh and cooked just right (very lightly). We shared the dessert sampler, which was scrumptious, and some very nice press-pot coffee.

Overall, not crowded, professional service, interesting, inspired food served with flair. It is one of Disney's best places to eat, and so convenient to be right on the Monorail. We will definitely return. :)

We ate dinner at the Grand Floridian Cafe and loved it. We both had the NY Strip and it was divine! The decor is also lovely.

My husband and I LOVE it!! My husband always requests it when we go!

One of our favorite restaurants in WDW, especially for breakfast. We've also had a nice lunch there and will be having dinner there one month from today. Woo! :)

1) Not to demean GFC, but I consider it more of a CS½ than a real TS.
2) Yes, I know WDW considers it a TS, but to me it is semi-quick food.
3) I must say, however, that we do enjoy eating there.
4) It is great for a quicker meal.
. . . good foord
. . . usually great service
. . . light and bright surroundings
. . . reasonably priced
5) I recommend it for a quicker and lighter meal.

NOTE: My neighbor is a chef there, but this does not influence my opinion. We have eaten there since 1989 when we stayed at GF for the first time. The breakfast was lovely, and we have had many breakfasts and early dinners since.

It is a very pretty restaurant. The further you go in the better. Try to get a table in the back by the windows. You might see some fireworks if you time it right. The food is good. Hubby gets a steak and I usually end up with some kind of chicken (everywhere we go!). BFF loves the GF burger. I am not a seafood lover so I can't say........Leave room for chocolate fondue:banana:

:thumbsup2 Thanks everybody! I read your responses to the family and we are all looking forward to eating there.:yay:

It was one of the top 5 places we ate last trip. Service was spot on, food was really good, atmosphere was elegant yet casual. And I have to say management was amazing. My parents where celebrating their anniversary and DM bent down to tell DF something and he smacked her nose on DF's very hard head half way through dinner. (ended up being a deviated septum) and she had to leave because of the pain so I asked our server for some ice and told him what happened. The MOD went out with an icepack and had them deliver strawberries and champagne since they where sitting outside by the water. So while DH, DSis and I finished our dinner they where celebrating with an icepack, champagne and strawberries. Needless to say we will be back.

I've eaten here twice, once in 2007 and just last week. Both times the meals were excellent. I recall in 2007 that it had gotten bad reviews, but we were making our ADRs last minute and decided to try it. I am so happy we did. It has great atomosphere, food is terrific, and the service was really good.

I have only ever had lunch there, but we thought the food was really good quality.

The Plaza is CS1/2... GFC is no less a TS than Kona or any number of other places, and nicer than many or most - to us. We've never gotten a CS1/2 vibe from the GFC.

The pasta there is very good. My DH got the lobster burger once and I just got a burger without the lobster with fries and it was good. We've had other entrees there but not the steak and its been good. Service is so so.
