How is it? Looking at having dinner there. Menu looks good, and am looking for something that is not a buffet, and close to MK.

I am curious as well. I have a lunch booked at Tony's but with all the negative reviews thinking of switching to GFC.

Our party of 8 had dinner at the GF Cafe 6/26. It was fairly empty and was a quiet place to have a meal. The restaurant itself is lovely. Just so you know, the menu has changed slightly and is a little different than what is posted online. For instance the prime rib has been replaced with a ribeye steak. Also, they no longer serve the Land and Sea :confused3 . The shrimp prosciutto penne pasta with asiago cheese sauce was a big hit. The ribeye and the N.Y. strips were cooked as ordered. The mashed potatoes and red wine reduction were wonderful. The mahi mahi was just ok. Seems the two who ordered it didn't care for the sauce that was on/around it. It wasn't the best meal of our trip but it was a B+ IMO.

Hmmmmmm........

The Mouse for less has a menu that says it was updated in July. The Land and Sea are on there as well as the Prime Rib. Here it is : http://www.themouseforless.com/tripplanning/menus/wdw/GrandFloridianCafe.shtml

We were there last week. Service was excellent. The menu has changed since the one that is posted on themouseforless. Unfortunately they have not put the new menu up even outside the restaurant because I saw prime rib on the menu outside but didn't see it on the menu we were given and was told the menu had changed. My husband and I thought it was great we got in right away even without a reservation. The Caesar salad and pasta dish were great. DH liked his steak.

We ate there in July and I can say the Land and Sea were not on the menu. We had a good meal but the service was very slow (or is it that they just didn't rush us? What exactly is the difference?).

We stayed at the GF in May. We ate at the cafe once. The food was good: not super fancy but good. Service was a bit slow (as another poster mentioned). It never was busy when we walked by, so I am considering it great, for our upcoming trip, as a "drop in" lunch place.

If we weren't staying at the GF, I'm not sure we'd eat there again. We would make the trip to the GF from any other resort for Citricos or Narcoossee's but probably not the GFC.

It does have a great location for a "get away from the parks" lunch since it is so close to Magic Kingdom.

I don't know if that was helpful!

Thank you both for clarifying this. For up to date info, the DIS members are who to turn to!:disrocks:

We had to change an ADR last minute in June and we ended up going to the Grand Floridian Cafe. It was very pretty inside and we had a really relaxed meal with good food. We thought it was a really nice dining experience, and a good change from all the crowds.

Not a bad place, but not super fancy. My potatoes were cold the first time we ate there a couple of weeks ago. Next time it was fine.

Would rather go there than Tony's.
