Two weeks ago my mother, daughter(9) and I dined at GFC. It was horrible, well the server was horrible, so much so I complained on my way out and then wasn't satisfied with the outcome so I wrote a letter to Guest Services. It got taken care of and I wound up speaking to the head of dining for GFC and she is crediting our meal back to my cc in 1-2 billing cycles. Well, I'm going back with my mother this weekend for a girls weekend and we would like to do breakfast there again, what are the odds I get the same server? Would it be tacky of me to ask upon checking in to not sit in his section if he is working ? I know they see a ton of people daily but what I wrote in the letter and the experience we had would be hard to forget. I just don't want an awkward start to the day.

Thanks in advance.

I think if you had a terrible experience with a server, and you actually see them working, it doesn't seem horrible to ask to be seated elsewhere. Lots of people move for minor reasons (people want booths, near windows, away from the kitchen), I'm sure you could sound reasonable with an ask to move.

I don't think it's tacky to ask to be seated elsewhere, but, will you enjoy your meal if this server is working in the restaurant even if he/she isn't waiting on you?

I really don't know that he would recognize us as it was only one time, but I would just hate for him to remember the name since they get it on a ticket once we are seated.

The backstory is the service was very lackluster and quite horrendous for Disney standards. The server seemed irritated right from the get go. Annoyed that I wanted water plus juice for everyone, annoyed we asked for honey with the biscuits after they were brought out etc..The food was cooked improperly, not his fault but he was never around and I mean never so we could make a correction. After having to flag people down for butter, extra silver etc I was just over it. We were done and waiting on him to appear from who knows where so I got my wallet out and set it by my purse on the side of the table. He then comes out of nowhere and asks if we want the check because "I look like I'm in a hurry" I said that would be fine. A few minutes go by and he comes back to the table and hands me the bill and says "I'm just going to stand here and make it awkward while I wait for you to pay me" and he did literally just stand there. Like I said I was with my mom, she doesn't like that I pay for her, she wanted to see what her portion was but I just handed over my credit card so he would go away. It was so bizarre. Then he comes back and stands there while i tip and sign.

I just prefer to not have him serve me LOL

I think it's fine to ask to be seated elsewhere. That's what I would do. It's your vacation and your money, you should be able to enjoy it.

OMG - I would hope that if you informed guest services of this, that server would no longer have a job at Disney! How utterly obnoxious and rude. There's really no place in the service industry for people like that.

Ugh. You really want to go back to GF Cafe after that? I would definitely ask to be seated elsewhere.

If you enjoyed the food enough to go back, I would just ask right when you get there if they are working/still working there and if they are, ask to be seated on the opposite side. It, unfortunately for him, doesn't sound like his attitude was exclusive to you. I wouldn't worry about him recognizing you.

I have gone back year after year to several Disney restaurants, and I can’t say that I’ve ever run into the same server twice.

I’ve run into the same bartender (Ray from the Outer Rim) on different trips, but not any waiter or waitress.
