Two of us are staying at GF in Oct. We made reses. for Lagoon view. Which rooms look out onto MK? Any tips to pass on for the resort? We are celebrating an anniverary!
Many thanks!

Congratulations on your anniversary. You picked a beautiful resort to celebrate at. I would recommend faxing a request for Magic Kingdom view over to the room assignor 4 days before you're due to arrive (407-824-3186). I made mine "disney cute" with some clip art images. I took all the suggestions of previous posters and politely asked for an MK view, letting them know it was for my 6 year old princess. I would certainly mention to them, that your reason for asking, is to help make an anniversary celebration more special.

The spa is wonderful. If you have time to book a couples massage or something on your own, I would highly recommend it.

Gasparilla's grill is quick, counter service, but the prices are reasonable and the food is always fresh and very tasty. I also love the Grand Floridian Cafe for breakfast or lunch. Ask for Izzy if you go, he's a real treat.

Enjoy the main building each afternoon from 3pm on. There is a piano and orchestra that alternate playing all evening. It's a wonderful spot to relax and unwind.

I've never done the afternoon tea, but have heard that is also very nice.

Enjoy,
Tammi

Congratulations on your anniversary!

I think you'll find the best views of the castle from Sago Cay or Conch Key buildings. If it's just two of you, I recommend room 5441 in Sago Cay (although you cannot request specific room numbers). This room has vaulted ceilings and a king bed. It was where my DH and I stayed for our honeymoon. Boca Chica and Big Pine Key buildings offer more expansive views of the lagoon and the castle, but Sago and Conch are closest to the castle.

Have a great trip!!!!!

We stayed in one of the dormer rooms in Boca Chica last December and had a beautiful view of Magic Kingdom and the nightly electic water pagent. I've read that there are better views, but it was perfect for us. In our case, we didn't make a special request (other than Lagoon view), but got lucky with the view. We're going for a long weekend in about five days to celebrate our anniversary, and this time I'm going to take the advice I've read here fax our request ... less for the view than to try to ensure a non-smoking room, since I'm 7 months pregnant.

If you really want to splurge, make a reservation for Victoria & Alberts. It's an amazing experience! Incredible food, impeccible service and such a romantic atmosphere. The price is steep ($85 per person, more with the wine pairing), but worth every penny, especially for a special occasion. We thought it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience ... but we've just booked the encore. Since we only have two nights to spend this time around, we figure we can splurge on a special night out.

Enjoy!

My DH and I are going to GF lagoon view in October as well! 10/19-10/22. It will be my first time there too, and I have found many tips from these boards on it. Definitely check out the Resort thread which you will find when you first log-on to Resorts board, it will say "are you looking for your favorite resort thread?" Check that out because it has a ton of information there for you. We are going to celebrate our 4 year wedding anniversary and my 27th bday (10/20/02). So I have created a request which I will be faxing to them 3 days ahead of time stating this info and my request for Conch Key (I've heard it's best for a view of MK). If you would like to see my request, email me personally and I will send a copy to you. Happy Anniversary and have fun!:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

The dormer or not dormer is a large decision when choosing, while the inside of the dormer rooms are spectular, with the large vaulted ceiling and sky lite window over balcony door. However, the balcony of the dormer rooms are about 1/2 the size of the regular balcony and are privacy (you have to be standing to see out). The dormer balcony is very tight 2 people can stand but anyone else it gets very tight.

I have had both types of rooms and thought I only would like the dormer, but in fact now I would only take the regular room to be able to see out. have had 2 different view's in conch and 1 in big pine key, and prefered big pine key.

Have a great time, any room will be lovely! Once while ordering room service we asked for something not on the menu and he replied "you at the GF, anything is possible"!

The Grand is a great place to celebrate an anniversary! :) Tips? Try to take some time early in the morning, or later in the evening, and stroll around the hotel and the grounds. If you have time, try a couples massage at the Spa - it's wonderful, relaxing, romantic! Take a walk along the beach between the Grand and the Poly, timed to see the fireworks. If you want a nice meal, in a pretty, romantic atmosphere, make a PS for Citricos there at the Grand. Great food, and a nice view if you get a window seat. Alternately, try Narcoossees - great views of the fireworks, with music, from there too.

For the view; well, we were in Boca Chica and thought we had a perfect view; the whole lagoon! It also seemed like more than half of the building had MK views. We were VERY happy!
