Grand Clalifornian - Day Use of Room

Does anyone know if you can (pay to) get day use of a room at the Grand Californian? I have a three night booking, and my flight is 10pm the day I check out. Normally this would not be a big deal, but it is also the same day I am running a half marathon, so it would be nice to have the room all day to rest. Just wondering if I can pay to have the room the rest of the day, or if I would have to book an extra night.

Staying late precludes someone from checking in before a reasonable hour, so you would have to book a night.

Yes...there is actually a half day rate for a late check out...at least there was a year ago but it is completely based on availability and if they need the room.

It is not a published or advertised thing and they will only let you know if it is available the night before, so it is a bit of a crap shoot.

If you are unable to do that, maybe consider a cheaper hotel/motel for that last day. At least if you had to pay for another night, it would probably be less than half the cost.

When I was trying to plead for a 2p late check out they were able to offer 1p or half day rate until 8pm. That may have changed since as is was a year or two ago.

IF they are booked, not even a chance of any late check out is gonna exist and now they won't even tell you if it is a possibility till after 6am the day of your departure.

That's good to know. The one time we inquired at PPH, it wasn't possible, so I guess I didn't pay attention to the details.

I was wondering about this, myself. I'll likely also be seeking a late check out as I don't fly until 7pm my last day, and plan to spend a good deal of time in the parks. I'll also be doing a tour in the morning that day, so if I DON'T get late check out, I'll have to check out at like, 7am which is going to suck.
