Anyone have any input on the Grand Cayman Shipwreck and Snorkel Excursion. I will be sailing this Saturday and would like some feedback if anyone has any. All ideas and comments would be welcome. 7 day seven 7 night.

I did this back a few years. I was much, much more impressed with the Stingray City snorkel trip. Way more many fish to see at the reef we stopped at before Stingray.

Shipwreck's weren't "all that".

Thanks for the input. I'm taking my daughter with me and she is kinda freaked about the stingrays along with my wife, but I am into the stingrays but I think I will lose out. Is there any good with the Shipwreck and Reef excursion for my 7 year old. Is it worth it. How far out do you go. Is it safe? Any input would be appreciated. I know stingray is better but this may be all I get my wife and daughter to go on so I hope it is a bit worthwhile. Be as straightforward as you can with your opinion and thanks for the prompt response you gave me.

Have you considered doing a non-DCL excursion? I am looking at Captain Marvins (recommended in many trip reports here) and they have trips that include reef stops and the stingrays. You could do stingrays while they stay on the boat and you could all do the reefs.

Just a thought...

The shipwrecks are well, um, I don't know exactly how far down but they're deep. Any and all sea life appeared WAY down where the wrecks were.

Perhaps if I was a diver and was "down" there with everything, vs. the surface I would've been more impressed.

The water was calm, that wasn't an issue. I would say, no, it wasn't worth it. I wouldn't do it again.

We also did the Captain Marvin's Stingray City excursion where you stopped at 1 reef before you went to Stingray City. That is where I mentioned all the fish were.

That is an option where your DW and DD could snorkel and see "regular" marine life on the reef stop, and then watch you From the boat while you "snorkel" with the stingrays at the sandbar.

That truly could be the best of both worlds for you. At Stingray City, your DD would NOT have to get off the boat.

HTH!
